Cayley Arms

We had a meal last night and we could not be more impressed. We were greeted by the owner Tim and welcomed in with a smile which is a refreshing change It was pie night which suited us fine and both opted for the steak and ale pie which I have to say was the best pie I have ever had and the portion was huge We were seated in some comfortable chairs near the log burner until our food was ready and were shown to our table After we had eaten we sat back in the comfortable chairs and Tim took the time to come and talk to us telling us all about the refurbishments that had taken place The premises is very smart and comfortable and the food and drink very well priced All in all we were so impressed and I would highly recommend the Caley Arms

We were staying in the lodges next door to the Cayley Arms so we booked for dinner one night. The food was excellent, there were 4 of us and we all really enjoyed it. We also loved the relaxed ambience of the pub and the friendly staff. We will definitely be visiting again when we are back in the area.

We stayed at the Cayley Arms for 1 night in the Stag room of the hotel and the renovations performed on the original building are nothing less than spectacular. From the bathroom details and the little things like sleeping masks and earplugs for light sleepers, nothing was left out. Our evening meal was served piping hot on warm plates, the pictures speak for themselves to presentation and quality of products. We slept so well in the quiet room above the little stream at the back of the Inn and the following morning we were presented with an outstanding full English breakfast. While passing through Pickering on a bitterly cold December night, I chanced upon The Cayley Arms. The charming atmosphere, coupled with attentive staff and delicious cuisine, made my visit truly enjoyable. The menu offered a good range of options, and the quality of the food exceeded my expectations. I opted for the home cooked pie with a beautifully prepaired side of veg; an ideal choice for the cold road weary traveller. The cosy ambience and friendly service added to the overall positive impression. I highly recommend The Cayley Arms for a delightful dining experience in Pickering. So much more than just a great pub dinner.

The service was great the food left a little to be desired I started with the Mac and cheese starter which was relatively bland and often felt I was just eating pasta. The main course was steak and ale pie which was a very good portion but it felt as though the pie was cooked separately from the steak and then added after the fact, the steak was quite dry and I'd have liked more than a thimble full of gravy. The dessert I chose profiteroles, I appreciate it's homemade but for the price and how simple they are I'd have expected more than 4. Overall I believe some improvements could be made and a little more value for money.

Have driven past this lovely pub/hotel several times when on holiday and finally got round to visiting. What an absolutely delightful place. The garden with a small stream is picturesque and the welcome is warm and friendly. Had a delicious meal, nothing too much trouble and generous portions. Everywhere is fresh and clean, the toilets are a joy to behold (always a good sign). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and look forward to returning when we're next in Yorkshire.
