Zizzi

Visited for lunch with my husband. It was quite busy with a mixed clientele.The menu consisted of the usual chain offering of mainly pizza and pasta. Other items - chicken, fish etc each had some kind of sauce. so nothing really 'healthy' to eat here apart from a salad but the weather was too cold. We settled on a sharing platter to start, which was excellent but too much and unfortunately, comprised items which we had ordered for mains - we should have checked. To follow I ordered a half pizza with salad. The pizza was perfectly cooked and the salad the freshest and nicest I've ever had at a pizza, pasta chain. My husband's calamari were a bit too chewy; perhaps not cooked enough. We hadn't visited for ages and he used to enjoy the fritto misto, which they no longer do. We were too full to have pudding or coffee. Overall, we thought that the place could do with a bit of TLC - it looked run-down and while not exactly dirty, could certainly do with a good dust and sweep. The two servers were extremely polite, friendly and efficient, not found too often. We thought the bill rather expensive @ nearly £50 for starter, mains and two juices. Our choice, however. I think there was a set lunch which we could have chosen. We don't eat pizza very often but we will visit Zizzi again.

Brilliant place for a quite lunch. Nice ambiance and decor with very pleasant, great looking waitresses.....It was fairly packed on Valentines Day as you might expect but the food was still superb with a few well chosen tunes playing in the background. Love the idea of the huge olive tree stretching out across the restaurant inside as it's really quite unusual and surprisingly seems to work well. I'll certainly try and use this on a more regular basis in the future as long as they keep the lunch deal going.
