Myself and my family decided to visit this establishment for our wedding anniversary dinner. We were well received with a warm welcome. Our table was in a lovely spot within the restaurant. The service was excellent. The food arrived in a more than reasonable time frame. I cannot fault the food preparation and presentation. Dropped a 🌟 simply due to the size of some of the portions. Not good value for the money.
Third time returning and it just gets better. The best Sunday lunch around, cannot recommend highly enough.
Gemma and Lee are always lovely hosts, as are all their team. Good drinks selection. The Black Horse looks stunning inside and out. Cannot beat a drink in the garden before heading in, to be treated to a great meal.
I visited this delightful restaurant with my two sons for a delightful lunch. Our lovely host and the team ensured everything was taken care of. Our food was superb. I really enjoyed my time here. I now know why my son dines here so regularly. Well worth a visit
The restaurant is in an old building which dates back to the 15th century. The atmosphere is great (low ceilings, hops hanging all around and massive, beautifully presented fireplaces). The food is delicious. We (a party of 4) had the chicken, the pork belly and the steak and ale pie, plus starters and desserts. All well presented and very tasty. The service was lovely and the staff very friendly. We'll definitely go back next time we'll be in the area.
Just a very fine restaurant and not a pub!Food is really tasty, nice atmosphere and warm welcome. Perhaps a bit posh but it’s what we expect from this little bijou.
Please don’t forget the chef, he can cook!
Have been many time to the black horse in pluckley
When we have friends visit we will without fail take them for a Sunday roast as it’s always absolutely suburb from start to finish. From the moment we walk in the gracious landlady Gemma welcomes us, all the staff acknowledge you and make you feel completely at home. Really can’t fault the customer service and it’s an industry I’ve worked in for many years. Anyone we’ve brought to the black horse will still mention ‘the best Sunday roast’ they’ve ever had that time they visited. The food is spot on with the extra crispy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and giant Yorkshires anything I’d want on my ideal Sunday lunch without the hassle of making it myself. I love that they change the menu up and have had a chance to try some great starters, some of our favourites have been the homemade scotch egg and Korean fried chicken.

A relatively short but well chosen and tempting menu, all dishes chosen in our party of high quality and very tasty. Attentive but not obsessive service. Comfortable rooms and tables within a fine country pub. Eating outside available (but it was raining!).
We had a lovely Sunday lunch. The staff were all very professional and Gemma was friendly and personable. It has a lovely atmosphere with candlelight and I would love to visit at Christmas when I imagine the Black Horse would be beautifully decorated.
This is a fantastic place. Gorgeous medieval pub. Lots of lovely touches inside. Beautiful food. Very friendly welcoming staff. A rare find as they say. A really Fabulous spot. Support your local eateries. They need our support in these difficult times
The new owners deserve high praise for the transformation of The Black Horse. The food is exceptional and the hospitality & atmosphere is fantastic. We can’t wait to return.
