Fantastic place,very nice services, the owners and staff are very welcoming especially to people like me from Africa, no form of discrimination they will make you feel comfortable, I go there to watch football in a place full of rugby fans but they always allow us watch and I shoot pool with good players,a lovely place to be

Came to the Pick and Shovel with another. We came to watch the rugby and have some food. The kitchen had just closed when they reopened it just for us. Decent loaded fries, salt&chilli wings, drinks and a few other bits. Well priced. Great service. Lots of screens for sport.

Just had a lamb roast and it was superb. Friendly service and atmosphere and the food was piping hot.

A big group of us were on a walking weekend and stayed nearby. Maria was happy to accommodate us and sorted a preorder. Once we arrived we were immediately greeted by the friendly owners and asked if the table arrangements suited us. We were also asked when we would like our food to start being prepared. Food was excellent and the team coped well catering for such a large group with everybody’s needs met perfectly. Owners and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Will be sure to return if we ever visit the area again.

The food here is top quality, second to none. Have had Sunday lunch on many occasions. The beer is crisp and clean. Lovely Staff, always a warm welcome. If you’re new in town the locals are a great bunch and will always make you very welcome.

Straight forward pub food, very well priced, cooked to perfection and prepared very promptly. The staff went out of their way to be friendly. Best pints of IPA we've had for a long time. Dog friendly. Thank you.

Was at the pick and shovel for the first international rugby match 3 weeks ago and have been back regular since. The food there is of the highest order, the staff are so welcoming and the the atmosphere is amazing. Full of friendly people and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there.

10/10 spectacular pub, the new owners are absolutely delightful along with all the staff. They have ripped it apart and redecorated it and brought life to it. Even including a menu of delicious delights to pick from! Highly recommend and great prices.
