We often visit Port Erin and pretty much always call in to have fish 'n' chips at the Port Erin Diner. The place is very clean and bright with its blue and white theme and is the epitome of a seaside chip shop. The staff are very friendly and the service brilliant. Of course the food is also extremely good and we consider it to be the best fish 'n' chips we have had in a long time.
Best chippy in a good while!
Very much enjoyed the IoM "speciality" of chips, cheese and gravy (poutine with real cheese). Great steak and kidney pudding. Excellent cup of tea to wash it down too.
Friends fish and chips was by all accounts excellent. Same superbly cooked chips with fresh white fish in great batter.
Fri
We really enjoyed this diner for a quick lunch. The tables all had fresh flowers and the view of the city from inside was really nice. The fish was fried perfectly and was very tasty. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat in Port Erin I'd definitely recommend this one!
The food we had at the Port Erin Chippy was gorgeous.
We are a family of four with completely different tastes.
Myself and my wife shared a large cod and chips, my one daughter (a carnivore) had the Big Foot Sausage and chips and my other daughter (a vegetarian) had a pie.
It was all cooked to perfection and the best we had enjoyed in ages (possibly our best fish and chip meal of any holiday).
Port Erin is a great place to enjoy this traditional British fare on the seafront - a must for any beach holiday and the Isle of Man.
Fab chippy, great portions. We visited while visiting Port Erin and a young chap who served us/cleared tables was really pleasant and polite. Sorry we didn’t get his name, but we appreciated his humble manner and polite nature
The fish, chips, mushy peas and gravy was quite nice. The only thing that let the experience down was the fact that when we asked for a bag it was passed to us after they'd wrapped the chips and before they'd prepared the pea and gravy pots. Our local chip shop packs the bag for us so the heavier food is at the bottom and the chips at the top.
Rainy day, called in for cheesy chips.
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Chips were well cooked, crispy on the outside and soft and buttery in the inside. Gravy was very tasty and added the cheese where they were quite generous with the portion of cheese.
Next visit to IOM I will test more.
We came in here yesterday and it was busy we took a table and ordered at the counter food arrived very hot nice portion sizes and great price to lovely cup of tea as well we enjoyed our dinner and will be back again soon thank you poet erin chippy and diner
Great Cod and mushy peas, friendly service, and they don't increase their prices during the TT.
Haddock cooked on request, cooking time advised. Nice and bright inside, staff all happy and having a laugh together. Food was hot and really tasty & fresh, recommend it highly.
Everything you would expect from a traditional fish and chip restaurant. Really tasty food, excellent service. Music is a little strange but added to the atmosphere.
Highly recommended
Wow !!!! A chippy that took me back to my childhood . Best fish I have ever had , crisp batter , fresh fish , and the taste was scrumptious. Mushy peas as they should be , slopping about around the fish . Not like the usual chippy peas ,just a lump of dry peas dumped on top that never moves . A chippy that can actually cook chips yummy . Thank you .
