Good selection of beers. Busy but still able to find an empty table. We sat outside in the sun which was nice but have in the winter months sat inside with no problem. We have noticed that local workersv do eat here. Very convenient for the trains, buses, ferry to Gosport and of course all the Dockyard attractions. The main trouble is recalling the name of the pub when arranging to meet anyone there.

Called in yesterday for a pre match pint. Arrived to find the pub extremely busy but was served within a couple of minutes and found some stools to sit on. Great atmosphere and lovely decor. Didn’t eat but the food looked very nice. Excellent beer choices.

First time back here since the fire earlier in the year, the renovation has been done really well with a great outdoor area for the smokers. As before the staff are great and the service is exceptional. Also do discount for veterans which is an added bonus.

We didn't eat but staff at the bar were lovely, and a good selection of real beers to sample. No silly loud music and plenty of room to sit and natter. The front of the pub is beautiful and it's a great waterfront pub.

It looks as atmospheric from the outside as it does inside, great service and great food and beer. We ate here throughout our stay in Portsmuth. I recommend !!!

We visited the Ship Anson a week ago looking for a late breakfast and coffee before visiting the adjacent Royal Docks. The exterior is period and well maintained and attractive. The interior is traditional, and attractive albeit with multiple Sports Screens, but we did not find these intrusive or distracting. The welcome was warm and we had no trouble finding a table but I suspect that this would be more difficult later on. There is a wide selection of beverages to choose from and an excellent and traditional food menu, all at very reasonable prices. Breakfast, served until noon, is excellent and at £4.95, amazing value for money! The welcome by Keith and his team is professional and friendly, and if he can make time, Keith (from Liverpool!) will, and will tell you about the history of the pub and its connections with the Navy and Admiral Anson. Toilets - these are well maintained and spotless. All in all the Ship Anson is well worth visiting. Highly Recommended!

Didn't eat - only here for the beer which they served up to scores of Morris dancers and let them dance inside as the heavens opened that morning. Fabulous pub, great beers and just brilliant staff. Thank you for giving us the best start possible to the annual Victory Morris Mens' Day of Dance
