Ship Anson - Portsmouth - Photo album

Really nice local pub. Great food and friendly service.
We visited the Ship Anson a week ago looking for a late breakfast and coffee before visiting the adjacent Royal Docks. The exterior is period and well maintained and attractive. The interior is traditional, and attractive albeit with multiple Sports Screens, but we did not find these intrusive or d
Amazing owner that gave us the best seat in the house when we booked and explained what we were in town for. Food was great, very fast service and great atmosphere. Received the ship Anson shilling from the owner! Highly recommended!
Convenient location, tasty food, big portion, variety choices of beer, friendly staff and atmosphere🥰 Highly recommended!!
A classic pub. Nice decor We had the fish and chips. Nice atmosphere was quite busy, but we enjoyed ourselves
Very nice pup and good English pup food.. Also a nice selection of beer's and ciders.. Interior looks lovely and traditional.. We had fish and chips.. That tasted great.. Staff was friendly.
It looks as atmospheric from the outside as it does inside, great service and great food and beer. We ate here throughout our stay in Portsmuth. I recommend !!!
Fabulous atmosphere, great staff. Brilliant stop to have a drink in good company. Flat level entrance. Opposite bus station, and train station and excellent for visit to old navy base. Very old traditional pub. Car parks nearby food sold.
First time back here since the fire earlier in the year, the renovation has been done really well with a great outdoor area for the smokers. As before the staff are great and the service is exceptional. Also do discount for veterans which is an added bonus.
Best pint of 6X for a long time. Good selection of ales. Light lunch menu was fine, sandwiches were good (one, the bread was a little dry). Good place to sit outside and people watch. Will return to try the evening menu - was told the fish & chips was very good.
Good selection of beers. Busy but still able to find an empty table. We sat outside in the sun which was nice but have in the winter months sat inside with no problem. We have noticed that local workersv do eat here. Very convenient for the trains, buses, ferry to Gosport and of course all the Docky
Was here for lunch today table 15 and 16 friendly greeting, clean tidy and warm! Had the chicken sharer myself! Great hot fresh food and didn't have to wait long! Lovely atmosphere and happy-go-lucky customers! Will definitely be back and good value 👌 c u soon
Called in yesterday for a pre match pint. Arrived to find the pub extremely busy but was served within a couple of minutes and found some stools to sit on. Great atmosphere and lovely decor. Didn’t eat but the food looked very nice. Excellent beer choices.
We didn't eat but staff at the bar were lovely, and a good selection of real beers to sample. No silly loud music and plenty of room to sit and natter. The front of the pub is beautiful and it's a great waterfront pub.
Didn't eat - only here for the beer which they served up to scores of Morris dancers and let them dance inside as the heavens opened that morning. Fabulous pub, great beers and just brilliant staff. Thank you for giving us the best start possible to the annual Victory Morris Mens' Day of Dance
Pretty good for a GK venue... even had Old Peculiar on cask
Lovely old pub with a good atmosphere. Called in here for a drink and a cool off and liked it so much we came back the next day for a meal
