Visited on a busy Food Festival day but seated quickly.
Food was delicious and staff efficient and friendly.
You don't have to eat, many people just go in for drinks.
Didn't eat this time, but love the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly helpful service and the superb range of beers - keg and cask. They have a superb selection of bottles and cans too.
came in on a whim as our first choice was closed but this place was so good, super accommodating for dietary restrictions (Gluten Free) the guy behind the bar who took our order (monday 3rd july) was fantastic in explaining everything and recommending what was best for me to have and was super friendly, food came out quickly, was very nice and would definitely recommend the milkshakes! a great place for dinner but also doubles as a nice bar in the evenings
Great little place for a drink and a burger. Food was good and arrived promptly. Good atmosphere
A superb lunch of chicken wings with an assortment of dips, really nice chips and a draft Indian pale ale. Phew! I was afterwards almost busting. Went for a walk for an hour and returned for dessert. A local dairy farm supplying their ice cream. It was so nice, I would have asked for seconds but by now, I'm loosening the belt on my trousers.
The service was excellent. Entered and was given a menu but I went to the bar to admire their offerings. Undecided about the ale, the laddie give me a taster, now that is what I call real service. Having sat down to read the menu, i let the staff see that I was ready to eat. and he stopped his jobs, came and took my order and served it soon afterwards piping hot.

so for an outsider that doesn't often come to the coast, this place is a place to stop off at, the clue is in the name meat and barrel, great meat, burgers, ribs and even down to the chips, worth the money and every bite.
the beers ales and all the drinks behind the bar changes all the time and worth trying one of each, my partner and eye came here for the 3rd time in a year and worth every penny, even managed to take a few local brewed ales home too.
highly recommended place to stop off at too.

If you are into craft beers then you are in for a treat. I love their flights of beer (my usual choice). Also their food is delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Keep up the good work Meat and Barrel

The BBQ Dirty fries were sensational I could eat them all day.

Nice lunch! Really big portions and nice selection. Food was really tasty and price was reasonable. Maybe not my fav fries but satisfied overall!
