The Still & West, Old Portsmouth

Truly exceptional fish and chips by the sea. It has been 10 years since we last visited the Still and West due to living away from Portsmouth. We returned today to hopefully repeat numerous good visits and we’re not disappointed. The Still and West is a lovely pub situated in Old Portsmouth. There’s a lovely beer garden on the waters edge that provides a great place to watch the world go by and the Spinnaker Tower completes the setting. The facilities are great. The toilets are clean and there is plenty of choice at the bar. Inside and out the pub is beautifully laid out and the staff are very polite and helpful. The main attraction for this pub though is the the fish and chips. We ate ours in the beer garden which provided the perfect setting. The fish batter was was light and crispy and there wasn’t a soggy chip in sight. The meal was excellent. We will certainly be returning. Good job Still and West and pleased to see the high standards have been maintained over the years.

It was very nice visiting and seeing the beautiful view of the ocean and gunwharf docks not far from shopping and not far from the beautiful Southsea gardens. This day bought back many happy memories of when I lived in Southsea many years ago and actually worked for the Still & West for a period of time under different management but lovely place to work and lovely place to eat as i remembered the food was always top service. Didn't have the chance to eat when I visited this time as it was very busy as always but hopefully soon I will return and have that opportunity. Many thanks x
