D & E Gardner Restaurant

The service was good, I would guess many of the wait staff are kind of new to seafood restaurants. Our server did not eat seafood. Crab dip appetizer a little on the small size but good tasting. I had the fish and chips, the fish fillets were big and tender. Well seasoned, I enjoyed them very much. Only complaint here was the chips were a little on the stingy side. A value @ $8.99 I recommend and would order again! Wife ordered a crab cake which came out fried, and a bit in the over done side. We asked the server and she was pleasant about it and asked the kitchen if they could serve them broiled. They seemed happy to oblige. Value: 6/10 Service: 8/10 The place is now bright and inviting. I think once the bugs are worked out and maybe portions on the cheaper items are adjusted this could be a great place.

This was my first visit here and I have mixed feelings. We came for lunch and we were the first ones there. The waitress was prompt and friendly and it didn't take very long for a food to get there. But as the restaurant fillefd the service slowed down and I saw two couples leave without being served. I ordered fish tacos and french fries. The fish tacos were okay although the fish was a little overdone and the cheese have been added and was melted already. I prefer to be able to add cheese lettuce and tomato separately after it's served. They also didn't have the option of fried fish, only broiled or blackened. While the french fries were very good there weren't many. Most restaurants serve you more fries and you can eat. My friend ordered the shrimp and chicken and she said it was very good. I tried one of her hush puppies and they are gold standard for me in a restaurant. The ones here were not that good. The other issue was the decor which was minimal at best. And the booth seats were much too low and not geared towards being able to comfortably reach your food. Overall I'm not sure I will be coming back.

I decided to give this place a try because I was in the area and I am an avid seafood lover. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. My server was very nice and attentive, so no faults there. But the food needs work. I ordered a shrimp pasta that was served with a "butter sauce." What I received was a pile of slightly overcooked noodles that were drowned in melted butter and topped with cilantro and FOUR shriveled shrimp that really looked quite pathetic, and upon biting into had a strange texture that I have never experienced with shrimp. Upon bringing this to the cook's attention, I was approached by a woman who started rattling off about the texture being the way it is because of their shape and way the shrimp are cleaned. I did get a discount, but the recook on the shrimp wasn't much better. I won't be returning to this establishment. I have NEVER criticized a dish like this, and it's not worth my money if I can cook better at home myself.

Unfortunately, I feel this will be another failed restaurant in this location. Our server was training and very seldom came back to the table to check on us. There were only two other customers in the restaurant. The food took a long time to come out. The calamari were deeply battered and overcooked. My daughter ordered the lobster that was supposed to be two 8 oz and was only two 4 oz. She enjoyed them anyway. My wife ordered the seafood platter. When it came there were very few items on the plate for the price. My wife stated there was little crab meat in the Alaskan crab legs and everything else was a three on a scale to five. As for me, I ordered a 12 oz New York strip. What I received was a 5 oz cut of something I could recognize. I sent it back and the cook stated that it was not the 12 oz. I declined to have a new one and asked for my meal to be taken off the bill. We will not visit this restaurant again much to my disappointment. I was hoping there would finally be a good restaurant there after so many have failed in that location.

Don't waste your time. Food is not restaurant quality. You might as well get a frozen fish dinner with some canned sides, because that is what the food taste like. When my wife did not like the stew, and asked for something different the Owner or manager was very rude, and reluctant to take stew off our order, but still wanted to charge for new soup. Bad business practices!

Overall, disappointing. Menu, handwritten in numerous places, and waitress had no idea about any items on it. Recommended items at happy hour prices, which does not apply to Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Food took 40 minutes to come. Everything was cold and bland. Extremely frustrating and disappointing. Complaints met with indifference.

Went for lunch on 7/26/19. Had food here when it was named “The Cove”. Was always great. However, this was not the case at “the anchor.” The lady that took our order was pleasant so I thought this was going to be a good experience. Ordered 6oz filet with lobster tail and my friend ordered the steak and shrimp special. Both steaks were ordered medium. When the food arrived, the steaks were both almost well done, the filet mignon was some other cheaper piece of meat, the shrimp were tiny and badly overcooked and the one bite of the lobster tail was almost impossible to chew! We paid, spoke to the manager who apologized and said they would make more food(we politely declined) and left. If you wanna waste $50 and your time, this is a great place to do it!
