lovely cafe - visited for lunch -nice homemade cake

Great range of food from snacks to full meals, my wife had the club sandwich and that was really good as well as my bun, and even better the bacon was not smoked - I cannot understand why some places use smoked bacon as it puts off half the possible consumers! The staff were attentive and polite, fixed our rocking table before we asked, loads of space and good value. There is also a covered outside area but you need sun!

Food was good. Much better value in comparison to other places. Portion sizes were great for the price. Covid restrictions meant the meal was placed on a table away from us, then we would have to collect it ourselves. Cetainly not the worst system for protecting staff. The place itself was clean and furnishings were nice and modern. Worth a visit if you're in the area and in need of a meal. Visited 23/10/2020

Very good food with variety of choice including Sunday roast. I've never seen such a wide range of cakes before. The staff are very helpful. Dogs are welcome too!

Visit here regularly with my parents. Staff always welcoming, polite and friendly. Food is always lovely and it was a nice treat to go up today and find gluten free fish and chips on the specials board. Both myself and my mum are coeliac and sometimes end up choosing the same thing on our visits. The fish and chips were delicious, good portion size and hopefully something that will remain on the menu at some stage.

I've been here for breakfast twice now with my wife, great food, staff are always polite and welcoming.

Fantastic place Really friendly helpful staff Bacon and bre bap was lovely And the the home made cakes were some of the best cakes and I've had loads of cakes in my time The garden centre and surrounding areas are exceptional

Such a lovely place to go for a quick catch up or a chilled lunch. The staff in there are fantastic. Especially the customer facing staff. One lady in particular is lovely and always smiling and cheerful and chatty. Makes my sisters day everytime. Food is amazing and freshly made everytime. Great value for money. And good size portions. Seating is good and spaced out. Nice atmosphere and gorgeous decor. Come often and will continue to.

Again went with my sister. We hadn't booked a table but we were soon seated and we both had the Omelette, Omg so much came with it, a portion of chips and a mixed salad with a dressing ( even catered for my dietary choices) supered Service and fantastic place to eat, strongly recommend anyone to go.

Fantastic cafe/restaurant, nice selection of cakes (if I hadn't of eaten already, I would of guzzled them all lol), the loose leaf tea was fantastic, probably the best in Poundbury. Nice natural lighting & good air con, with plenty of space, excellent service from the chap serving my mother & I this afternoon (12th July) - highly recommend <3

Great place for lunch and dog friendly!! Wonderful food! Staff also very friendly brought a bowl of water straight to our dog on a hot day!! Will definitely be back next time we are in Poundbury! Thanks �

Brunch with hubby and sis-in-law. Great choice and the food has always been great. The staff are friendly and helpful but not overbearing. I really do love it.

Sadly I was extremely disappointed with my visit to the Engine room for Afternoon ‘High’ Tea. I had rung ahead in the morning to book for 4 of us. When we arrived, I was told I had to book in advance for this service...and then when it became apparent I had phoned, ‘I hadn’t made myself clear’! Anyway the lady who served us was very polite & apologetic and said they would do it but there may be a wait - no problem with that. Anyway spending £63 on sandwiches & cake I expect high standards no matter what. It was served on a wobbly cake stand to start with, the sandwiches were thick bread quartered, with crusts on, ordered one of ham & tomato, got ham & mustard!! the 3 choices of cake were slabs of cake, & cubes of rice crispy cake, all different sizes and the Victoria Sponge had so little jam & cream we had to use some that had come with the scones. The taste of the food wasn’t too bad, cake quality wasn’t great but overall the presentation was AWFUL and so disappointing. Finally we were given a small pot of tea each, no offer of refills even, considering we’d had to wait & the sandwiches being wrong. We had taken 2 foreign students as a farewell treat, an Afternoon Tea was the final thing they wanted to try in England, it certainly hasn’t sent them away with any good impression. I have had several Afternoon Teas and they have all be far superior to this one. A one off, bad day maybe but at £63 for a cup of tea, a sandwich & a few cake choices you can’t be allowed to make mistakes. Very Disappointed!

Mushrooms on sourdough today from the brunch menu.... fantastic! I wasn't expecting the mix of mushrooms you served and sourdough was toasted perfectly �

Vary nice place well worth a visit

Fantastic burger and real potato wedges in jackets. Will be back very soon.
