The Courtyard Cafe

Quirky little cafe, art work on the walls you could buy plus other bits of crftwork and the cafe is dog friendly, not many dog friendly cafes about, so a big plus there, service was very good and food was very good and alot of it is homemade, there is outside seating as well, the place was very busy at time of visit, which shows how popular the cafe is, and it has a good atmosphere, it is a little off the beaten track, blink and you could miss the turning for it, but has good car parking, well worth a visit if you like somewhere different.

I am quite a regular customer of this lovely place, on my own & with friends - & have recommended it to many. So was very disappointed on my recent visit a few days ago, to experience poor customer service (on this occasion)..Due to the fact that the majority of my dessert was rock hard. (The toastie I also had, was fine)..Usually my favourite, I was unable to get a spoon or fork thro - & certainly not my teeth! I expected, but failed to get proper 'recompense', apart from an inadequate 50p reduction. Another piece to take home with me, wld have been more appropriate & a much fairer customer service response. I appreciate food is reasonably priced, & that their margins may be small - but even so, I was astonished at the lack of customer care shown. & the suggestion that the cause was b'cos it had gone from hot to cold, severely stretched my credulity. I have never experienced that before with any dessert - anywhere. There was no apology. Then to add insult to injury, an attempt was made to evade responsibility for (serving) it, by saying they don't make it. Ha! Unacceptable. It was hard to believe, & in the end a very short-sighted way of dealing with it. In financial & reputation terms. & lost my respect in the process. A great pity. I feel the negative attitude left a lot to be desired & fell far short of what was actually deserved & warranted.
