We've lived in Preston for nearly 6 months and the one thing we missed from our previous home was a Fish and Chip shop, our last house had 2 in close proximity. Reviews had put us off trying Ingol chip shop but I decided to make my own mind up. The facia of the shop is off putting, the whole row of shops are incredibly run down which is a shame. The only indication it's open is the chip sign they pop outside as the frontage is very dark. The one promising thing is the food standards sticker which shows its marked as excellent in terms of food safety and hygiene. Inside it's quite a large shop but from the pictures on the wall to the meerkats sat on top of the warmers it looks a bit dated. The price I paid £1.40 for a tray of chips (not a bag) and £1.40 for a jumbo sausage and nearly £2 for a Holland's pie (which you can buy a pack of 4 in Morrisons for £2.25). They must fry fish to order because they only had sausages and a couple of pies in the warmers. The food itself was OK, the sausage was as expected & the portion of chips wasn't enough for two, they didn't have prices for a large chips. The potato quality was adequate, the amount of chips with black spots or green spots was average. I've worked in a chippy and know the cleaning and chipping machines can cause bruises, we used to pull them out and cut out the marks manually but for ease many chippies just throw them in. The green potatoes however shouldn't be kept in and there the ones that remain hard and starchy even after frying, they need removing (I had a few in my portion). The chips were a little greasy, this is down to using trays not paper as the paper soaks up some excess oil. They need to go back to paper for wrapping, it's better for the environment and better for your chips! I will use again but just for the odd chips night, not for full meals.

Kids meal is£2.00 there was less than 10 chips on a portion. My poor 9 yr old was not happy. He had my dinner as did my daughter. Mum went without. Won't bother going again.

Lady coughed and spluttered all over the place didn’t wash her hands then handled the food with her hands! The kids meal was a disgrace around 10 chips my child was still hungry after and a regular portion was tiny too and it was cold definitely won’t be going back! Very disappointing

One star given because its the only one around here. Somebody open a food place please. Spent £12 on a couple of fish and chips. Staff nice but Food was poor. Very. (not one for putting stuff on here but had to check if I was a one off. Facebook search confirmed I am not alone.) Chips must have been last weeks. Fish tasted that plastic and lacking in taste that Richard Attenborough was sobbing his heart out. Am all for praise when needed but was really surprised at how poor the quality was. Cmon ingol chippy you are the only food place for miles. You serve a few thousand homes from Cadley to Woodplumpton and Cottom to Garstang Rd. You should be 5star and have them queuing round the block with their £££s.

Ignore the old reviews. Went here for the first time today and got a slap up portion of fish chips and mushy peas. Really tasty and would buy from here again without question

It's not my favourite chippy but the staff are always pleasant and the quality of the food is ok. Fish is quite heavily fried and the potatoes were a bit mushy but maybe a glitch.

Chicken very greasy and the tiny amount of chips were swimming in way too much vinegar. Horrible. Surely all the Meerkat stuffed toys all over the range are a health and hygiene hazard

The worst chip shop in Preston ! I used to go in there regularly about upto 3 years ago but moved to Manchester . It was a great place to visit when I was living in Fulwood , but the new owners have certainly not kept up the standards !!
