Passed by this while walking out of the Powder Mills and decided to stop in. What a lovely place! It's a handmade pottery studio as well as a cafe offering homemade cream teas, cookies, and cakes that were delicious. There is also a small exhibit about the Dartmoor hill ponies and they sell horse meat (ask the owner to explain why, she is very passionate about biodiversity and sustainability and I learned a lot about the ponies just from listening to her). Dogs are allowed! It offers pottery classes on the weekends (inquiry needed). Anyways this was a nice stop along my way and the scones were amazing.

Lovely setting and perfect at the end of a walk on Dartmoor. Also on a busy weekend it was quiet and retained its charm. The pottery is lovely and the jam and scones delicious. Lovely people running the place too.

I've been here a few years back and enjoyed this place immensely - beautiful, very special pottery, also used for the cream tea (delicious). In the shop many additions from other artists. My favorite was the baskets. Who makes them I wonder? I never got an answer to that, sadly (I forgot to ask right in the shop). Ps: it's a common misconception that you cannot control the opening hours in Googlemaps. But if you click on them it will say something like "change opening hours" in blue below (mine is in German so I cannot say what it says in English exactly) and voila.. You can change them to the right ones.

The best cream tea for miles around either savoury or sweet! Stunning location. Lots of interesting information about the Dartmoor ponies. Lovely pottery to buy. Fantastic proprietors

Absolutely worth a little detour! We really enjoyed the pottery and Joss explained the process of making and firing pottery to us. We were really pleased to eat delicious scones and had good tea, served on beautiful pottery made there :)

A good cream tea requires all three elements (jam, scone, cream) to be in harmony. This is one of the best I've had in the area and I am an absolute expert so trust me. It can be off-putting to try out such an isolated place, but the people were cool and it's very relaxing. You can also buy local produce and art.

Very cosy cafe with alot of very reasonable priced locally made items for sale. Although hidden far from anywhere everyone was very nice. Lovely place to have a cup of tea and start a walk from. Dog Friendly.
