Honestly this place is an absolute gem! We had the absolute pleasure of stopping here over the weekend. Food incredible! Ale impeccable and the staff and locals warm and welcoming.
Honestly I couldn't recommend this fantastic pub high enough.
We were very lucky that they could accommodate us at short notice after being let down by the Angle in Topcliffe bearing in mind there were twelve of us. The bar is lovely and rustic with loads of atmosphere and the food and service was lovely. The only negative was the wine which you could buy from ALDI at under £5 but charged us £18.
Faboulsly welcoming, traditional cosy room, outstanding cooked breakfast. Chris the owner so friendly, special mention to regulars Terry and Helen for a lovely evening.

Good Pub food. It is located almost in the middle of nowhere but we don't need entertainment. We wanted a quiet stay and this pub delivers.
A lovely relaxing stay for 2 nights, warm welcome on arrival. Rooms lovely and bed comfortable. Breakfast was hot and plenty with plenty of tea, coffee and orange juice. The area was quiet and although pub based no loud music or drinkers. Would definately use again if in the area.

A friendly welcome stop on a journey, we relaxed straight away. It's a home from home kind of place. A good place to base yourself for visiting other areas and historic sites. We have returned many times and will do again.
Stopped at the Bay Horse for one night as we were competing in an event based at Thirsk. The food was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. There was a really good atmosphere in the bar too. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. I'd have no hesitation about stopping there again.
