We have been going to this pub for a few years, we have always enjoyed the food, the service and the environment here. The staff are welcoming and friendly we have always had good food served and left with the feeling that we want to come back. So we chose it as our wedding breakfast venue and everyone was so helpful and made our day go as planned.
Thank you to all who made it a success at the Old Bell.
Country side location. Friendly pleasant staff. Fresh food well presented, tasty and generous portions. Garden space.
Quaint relaxing pub next to a Premier Inn located in outer Reading.
The service was quicker than an F1 pit crew stop and food so tasty I was looking for Mr Ramsay himself.
Free parking, lots of seating and a fantastic selection of drinks.
Looking forward to returning again !
We always chose The Old Bell when visiting the area, so today was no exception. The young man who greeted us was not very enthusiastic and needed to improve on his engagement with customers. He made us feel like we were an inconvenience. A lady who we assume was a manager or supervisor showed us to a table and looked after us. She was must more engaging. I ordered the no leaf salad, and my partner ordered the smothered chicken. When they arrived, I was confused as to whether the salad was meant to be warm or cold as the plate was piping hot, but the food was lukewarm. Nonetheless, it was tasty.
We were staying nearby in a hotel and decided based on reviews to check this place out. Pre-booked 6pm Sunday with 2 adults and 2 kids (5&6). I'm quite picky over roast dinners and get frustrated when you go out and it tastes nowhere near as nice as what you cook yourself. Not at this pub. WOW the Yorkshire Puddings were huge and cooked to perfection. The meat was all very nice quality, juicy and not tough or dry. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was very prompt. Price was I was very impressed too. It's going to sound like we just give everywhere 5 stars which we don't but couldn't fault The Old Bell and would happily go there again.
Really lovely lunch. Not the cheapest place but everything was really nice only think I would change is one of the bread with the camembert as it was far too crumberly to dip.
Great good and good prices. Only slight annoyance was after we had been served with main meal the wait was quite a long time before waiter came over to see if we wanted desserts then once our desserts had been served no one came to see if we wanted any drinks or coffee. Then at 9.45 the manager came to our table to say if we wanted anything else he was calling last orders. But all in all great food and nice pub/restaurant.
We enjoyed a very nice lunch here, having happened upon it by pure chance travelling through the area. Louise our waitress looked after us beautifully. The menu suited us very well and our meals were served presented appetisingly and were delicious.we will definitely recommend The Bell and revisit it.
I have had lunch here on a few occasions so have got to try a lot on the menu. Never had anything I haven't enjoyed.
Staff always wonderful. Server often in charge louisa always happy to chat and make me feel welcome.
