We’ve just had an extraordinary evening at The Mill. The whole place is unique, buildings are stunning and having a drink with the relaxing sound of the water mill as a background is priceless. The buffet food was very tasty and varied, the service excellent and the staff polite and friendly. The show we attended was the most hilarious comedy I’ve seen in a long time, had laughed with tears! We’ll be definitely back often!
A fabulous venue. Excellent food. Helpful and polite staff. Some caveats though. The parking was a nightmare. No lane markings or parking bays identified and no staff on hand to see that cars parked in a way that best utilised the limited space available. The theatre production I saw ("Gypsy") was superb. Better than versions I have seen on Broadway and in London's West End. However, the audience I sat amongst was the most elderly, infirm and hideously white caucasian I can remember. If theatre is a dying art form, here it was dying right before my eyes.
Lovely afternoon tea. (King Coronation) Great service. Shame we were only one who got service by a couple of girls. One called Amy, and another girl kept coming to the table asking if we wanted anything else.
The restaurant is buffet style with a reasonable choice for all tastes and repeat visits are acceptable. The dining areas are very pleasant with plenty of character. The theatre is small ish and very comfortable with not a bad seat in the house. The play we saw was excellent. Will definitely be returning, an enjoyable experience.
Oh what a gem. Very atmospheric.
Beautiful setting, outstanding food and service. It was so easy to leave the restaurant and go into the theatre to thoroughly enjoy a wonderful comedy play. The acting was superb. Timing was spot on and being so close to all the action was magical. Oh what a lovely day.
We are definitely going to go back and have another wonderful experience.
Seeing a show at Sonning Mill is a really amazing experience, it’s in a fabulous location ..the food is lovely and the show we saw (Gypsy) was truly brilliant
This place makes a wonderful place for an evening out. The Mill itself has lots of charm, and you can see the original features.
There's a bar where you can get a drink when you first arrive. You then head up and enjoy a buffet dinner, which has a good selection of food with 1 option for vegetarians. The food was well cooked and tasty. You then get given a choice of desserts to choose from.
After that you go and take your seats ready for the show. The show we saw was brilliant and very funny. It's worth pre ordering your interval drinks before, which will be then ready on your own table where you had dinner.
Don't forget to register your car number plate before leaving.
We had a great time. The food was delicious, great service in a beautiful surroundings. The theatre production was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend the lunch and the theatre
If you love plays and places of historic value definitely check out the Mill, their service is on point from the time you enter the doors there's someone there to assist, the drinks were great, the aesthetic was rustic and perfect, my only regret is I didn't put more of that wonderful food on my plate. All of that was before I even mentioned the play "How The Other Half Loves". Fantastic little story, well written and acted and their creative use of the limited space 👏. The whole experience gets a 10/10 from me and my fiance.
A wonderful afternoon @ The Mill, steak pie served from a tray, great veg, followed by generous desserts including a cheese plate and magnificent bread and butter pudding, all before a superb, funny, brilliantly acted play in the theatre. A great experience !
