Very welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff. Definitely my new favourite local. Can’t wait to try the food as it looks and smells amazing!

Good decorations for Halloween.
Didn't have any food so cannot comment on that, but can say it smelt very nice!
Drinks were a little pricey (especially hot drinks) for what they were, but overall quite nice.

Great place, what a gem.
We will be back without a doubt and we shall bring others too.
The quality of the food was top notch and the service really good.
Thank you so much for a lovely lunch well worth more than its price, you're doing a great job of giving guests a valuable lunch out well cared for.

I've been for beers many times over the years - there's a nice outside space plus an outside bar. But I wasn't too sure whether the recent addition of "Gastro Pub" to the name was just a label. Having eaten there for the first time tonight, it seems it's not just a label. The food was delicious! And at reasonable prices. Extra points for the attentive and friendly service. I like how they've kept the option to just pop in for a beer too though. The key test, would I visit again for food or drinks? Absolutely! I'm already looking forward to it 🙂

This was our second family meal here and this time my 92 yr old mum’s birthday. The staff were so attentive and caring without us having asked for any special treatment. They made sure mum was warm and comfortable and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious again, 3 superb Indian dishes, 2 salmon and one burger, and 6 empty plates! Mum ordered a desert but in addition was brought a delicious chocolate brownie with strawberries, flowers and a candle as well as a rendition of Happy Birthday. It’s just a shame it was so quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime, only a couple of other people in, I do hope this restaurant does really well and stays as it is a local asset

Our 2nd experience at Poachers has been awesome . The food is great and the service is excellent . Our server was Jenny and she was superb . Reading finally has an answer to Dishoom in London .. Goan hospitality of the crew , coupled with a Punjabi cook and English lager .. tough to beat !! Will be back again with a bigger gang. Keep raising the bar Edward and team !

Really liked the place, food was decent but I found the service to be slow. We ordered a number of starters but 4 of the starters didn't arrive until very late, once all of the other food had been eaten.
I'm assuming it was like that because it was a Saturday night. All of us enjoyed that there was a DJ and overall the vibe was really chilled. 👌.
I would go again and recommend others to visit.

We had come for lunch with a family of 3 . We had a warm welcome by staff and got seated to a nice table . Staff were very friendly and did some really good recommendations. I can confirm everything we ordered was fresh and generous portion size . We enjoyed the food so much that also ended up doing a takeaway and the Mix tandoori platter was a best seller . I will be back again with friends and family and it was worth the 60 mile drive from Waterlooville. Poachers Pub also caters to parties and all your needs .

Really enjoyed a very pleasant meal here.
Under new ownership and they've done an excellent job improving this place.
There's a nice breadth to the menu. Eclectic mix of traditional Indian style food with traditional pub classics too.
Service has been criticised in a few reviews here but they definitely seem to have been working on this and the service we received was excellent.
Nice range of beers, spirits and cocktails.
Minor criticisms only - they describe themselves as a gastropub - I don't think they're quite there yet.
The menu, as I said was broad, but felt like it needed focusing a bit on fewer dishes with more precision to them. But that said - the wide range will cater for most people.
The portions were huge. No complaints there. It almost felt like a holiday style menu/food though.
We brought our daughter who has Coeliac Disease and they were very accommodating, even making a dish especially for her.
We also came with a dog and were welcomed.
It was so nice to see this upcoming business fairly busy on a Saturday lunch time. They're clearly working very hard here and it shows.
Well done guys. We will definitely be back!!

My wife and I visited after finding details on a local Facebook group. The owners have done a great job of mixing Indian and English dishes on the same menu. We tried various Indian starters and Butter chicken main. The food quality and taste was exceptional, there is no other place in the local area that serves Traditional, authentic Indian food within a pub environment.
Has a good choice of English dishes too and large screens to watch sports events along with ample outdoor seating in their garden. Highly recommended and will be visiting again.
