A decent place for both dim sum and dinner. Expecting 30 mins+ waiting time during weekend. Fairly clean and good service. Came as a group of 10 and food came really fast in a expected portion.

My favorite restaurant for Dim Sum and Chinese dinner. They have a large variety of dim sum - I especially like the deep fried triple crab claws, fried sticky rice dumpling with minced meat fillings (the sticky rice is still soft and tender on the inside, not dried like some restaurants), steamed prawn ball on top of fried egg tofu, and fried calamari.

As for dinner, I'd highly recommend their seafood dishes, e.g. crab and fish maw soup, fried oysters in hotpot, Portuguese seafood baked on rice - shrimps, scallops in a delicious curry sauce (no longer on menu but you can request it), lobster in creamy butter sauce, and steamed King Crab with minced garlic!

The customer service is absolutely top notch. The servers periodically come by to check on the food, replace dirty plates and refill teas. Always offers a very pleasant dining experience.

Once a year, a couple of my friends and I meet up with our high school Math tutor for some dim sum at her favourite dim sum restaurant in Richmond, Sun Sui Wah. If you’re not an early bird, reservations after 11:30AM is highly recommended.

We dined here for dinner one evening and I was very impressed - really good quality, reasonably priced and delicious. Canada is quite famous for geoducks and so we wanted to try it out. We were given the option of sashimi or cooked and we chose sauteed with vegetables just to be on the safe side. It was delicious and the geoduck was done to perfection. We also ordered the roasted squab and deep fried sparerib with preserved red bean curd sauce - couldn't fault both dishes. Though it was a weekday night it was really busy and I can now understand why.
Note: The address for Sun Sui Wah is a bit misleading, when standing on Number 3 Road it appears to not exist as all you can see is Aji Toro Japanese Restaurant which is now closed. The entrance is actually on Alexandra Road.

Based on this mornings visit I rate this place 4.5
When we first arrived it was a couple mins before open and there was already a line.
Exactly at opening everyone went inside and were quickly seated. The restaurant was clean, quite nice inside and well lit.
We ordered quite a few things and I was so full and waiting on the durian dumplings. We asked one of the employees walking by if it was still coming and he was so friendly and said he would check right away and have it sent right away and he apologized for it being late (it wasn't even that late, I was just wondering if it was forgotten). He said we could cancel it if we wanted but I said I still wanted it.
I was kinda shocked - most Chinese restaurants like this are never friendly and don't really care about customer service. The service we received here today - was such a nice change. Even during our meal, there were enough staff and if we wanted something like hot sauce - we didn't have to wait forever to flag someone down to get it. There was always servers walking around doing quality checks and seeing if anyone needed anything.
The food: was super yummy! I enjoyed everything I ate (I'll post pics) and the durian dumpling was SO GOOD. Like way too delicious.
I will definitely come back again.

I have never had a chance to try steamed custard buns and was excited when I got to sample them here. I love eggy desserts so I really liked the slightly sweet and salty rich filling. Fish Paste Rice Roll. Fish paste rice rolls are my favourite version of rice rolls to get and I really enjoyed these

Best dimsum place hands down. Great service and wonderful food... definitely recommend this place if you want some good quality dimsum! All fresh dimsum unlike those cheaper restaurants that re-steam all their dimsum

I was pretty surprised myself that I had not been to Sun Sui Wah’s Richmond location, although I was a frequent visitor to their Vancouver location when I was living in the city years ago. I am certainly aware of their reputation of being one of the best fine dining Chinese restaurants in the lower mainland, but just never thought of going there until this Sunday morning, when I tried to think of a different place from our usual dim sum joints. And the dim sum dishes we received at here were nicely prepared and quite delicious.

This is dim sum for beginners, what I would order for non Asians trying the food for the first time. As a food blogger, I enjoy sharing my love of food and all its varieties with others. I especially enjoying being the culinary tour guide to anyone new to any given cuisine. Even more so if the cuisine is one that I am most familiar with, and can actually take the ordering process by the reins. Such was the case with today’s brunch. I would be having dim sum with Caucasians who would be trying Chinese small plates for the first time.

I've always preferred the Richmond location of Sun Sui Wah compared to the other locations. Had another pleasant experience at the Richmond location where most of the dishes were quite well prepared. Loved the crispy chicken and of course the squab! However, the cold cut platter was very weak.

Wow, full flavor dim sum experience. Came early on Sunday and watched the tables fill to capacity. I took a picture of the dishes we ordered if interested. The squab is a specialty item they made fresh today and was just a bit salty with an option for sweet soy or spiced salt dipping. The outer wrap of the dumplings and the rice rolls were tender fresh and complemented the amazing seafood. The service here is stunning, we ordered 8 items but we were visited over 20 times with our plates replaced, tea pot exchanged, the empties cleared and assurances given for properly timed squab. Well done!

So thanks to Netflix and Seth Rogen and David Chang I found this place ! I always wanted to visit Canada and when going to Vancouver was possible I already had this place in mind! It’s in an shopping lot in Richmond area. Plenty of parking but be aware it is busy so chances are you even with a large lot it’ll be packed. The restaurant is big! Way bigger than I had imagined. It was clean and also had a tv panels against one wall to make a jumbo screen! I was pretty impressed by that. Something I’m not use too at an dim sum spot. The restrooms were also decently sized too to match the restaurant Volume. It was quite busy for a Thursday afternoon. Nonetheless, we got to ordering a TON of food. Like enough to where you knock out the first round or two or orders and you are left with a table that looks like no one ate off of it. Wow it was good and fresh and the sizes of the dim sum were larger than what I was use to. Quality wise I think the Asian community that lives here can be proud of this place ! I highly recommend it since it’s set up family style for a good time with the family or friends. The shrimp dumplings and shrimp egg rolls were amongst my favorites ! Make sure to ask for extra soy sauce and condiments ! Service was good! But since they were so busy it was difficult to get the attention of our waiter. It’s probably a good idea to have a laundry list of things for your waiter or waitress to do every time you see them. It’ll make your life easier. I would recommend if you are able to try this place !

A lot of friends have recommended SSW to me for dim sum, so I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to try it out. We went on the Mother's Day weekend, but we were seated relatively quickly (within 10-20 minutes). The inside is very spacious with lots of tables that are nicely spaced out. However parts of it are also dated (especially the washroom) and look like they could use some reno. There is an expansive menu of different dim sum items, with pricing being on the premium end. Overall the dim sum was good, but I feel it was overhyped as it wasn't as amazing as people made it sound and there were definitely some items that fell short. For instance, the custard lava buns had very little filling. Service was relatively friendly and attentive for a dim sum place.

Great dimsum spot with reasonable prices. You order off a sheet and the food comes out quickly. Service was decent and everything was delicious.

Food wise has some of the best Chinese food in Vancouver. Parking here is a little bit better than some of the other Richmond Chinese food restaurants because the parking lot they have allows for more cars and doesn't have a 1 hour time limit in their parking lot. The restaurant is fairly large and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table which was fine cuz it was busy on a Sunday afternoon at around 12:30 p.m. The actual restaurant was very loud so if you need to want to have a quiet dim some lunch or brunch with the tile floor we found that it accentuated the talking noise very much so and it was fairly difficult to hear each other talk during the time we had as dishes pretty much standard dim sum fair. We had to eat har Gow, sui Mai, mushroom & green pea shoots, egg custard tarts, vegetable bean curd, beef noodles, and deep fried milk. The deep fried Mil is a dessert with liquid milk on the inside and battered exterior. It tasted exactly how it sounds, not overly sweet while the egg tarts were also some of the best I've had from a dim sum in some time. We'll come again here as the food is good and we could get a table in Richmond. I'd rate this a 4.5 stars.

Food was decent. I just wish they knew how to fry stuff to make it crispy. The squid was soggy along with the “nest” of the Peking duck. But otherwise the food was tasty. Price is about the same as before. Only real downside is the huge friggin TVs that is super distracting. Service is great though. Ambience is typical of a Chinese restaurant

Good quality dim sum. The menu is a bit small compared to other restaurants I've been to but it sure was delicious. Service was very fast. It can get busy so making reservations is probably a good idea. I really enjoyed the beef tripe. It was different from the typical ginger beef tripe I order at dim sum restaurants. The bean curd rolls and the fried squid were my favourite.

Delicious Yum Cha (Dim Sum). Service was fast and dishes came out hot. The pieces were good size and full of ingredients. Highly recommend going with a couple of foodie friends to be able to try multiple dishes.

Overall, it is a good place to come for dim sum. I tried quite a few dishes and they’re all pretty good. My least favorite is the turnip cake. Turnip cake was not good at all, very disappointed….

Best dim sum experience I've had in a long time. Every dish we ordered was served hot and fresh, presented nicely and of course tasted delicious. Love the sauce trio of hot oil, hot sauce and hot mustard, more dim sum places need to have this. It's a game changer! Sun Sui Wah is a must visit when in Richmond.
