We had fish and chips today which was fresh and delicious. The staff were really welcoming and especially kind to my dog, giving her ham and biscuits! Recommend highly for lunch. The free carpark was handy too as it's difficult to park around Richmond hill.
As it started to rain we popped in for a cold beer and a glass of wine - bit surprised it cost £12.70 but the pub itself is lovely. Stuffed owl, pheasant, stag head and comfy couches - loved it. Lots of people enjoying the Sunday roast menu. Great outdoor areas too.
Great place for a few beers on a summer evening. They have a real fire for the winter. Their premium lager is £6.90 and old brewery bitter is £4.90.
Pub food is good. For a big meal go for the big catch. There is a big car park just don't forget to register your car inside. Plenty of seating inside and out and have a fantastic roast on Sundays.
Had a really nice and relaxed time. The lady behind the bar was friendly and helpful and the beer was delicious. As a barkeep myself I can testify that it is kept well. I will definitely be popping back at some time to try out the carvery.
Lovely location for access to riverside walks or Richmond wandering. All of the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. We ate in the bar both evenings and had plenty to choose from. The breakfast was a high point, service with a smile and nothing was too much trouble, great quality fare! (Thanks Jeff!)
Rooms were clean and well presented with bins changed & tea/coffee/biscuits replenished daily. There are no tvs in the rooms, so if that's something you need, then maybe not for you, but I found the peace & tranquility with views over the fields to the river helped me to really relax.
Ample free parking & complementary wifi on site too.
We'll definitely go back!
Always great place to stay as location is perfect for Richmond, the Thames, Ham House and local transport! Breakfast still a bit disappointing though, but its does. Be better if the rate was just room and then there's plenty of choice for breakfast in the town, which is a 10-15 minute walk away!
Booked this lovely place as a stop over whilst down in London for Depeche Mode at Twickenham. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was excellent and the room was clean & tidy and the bed was very comfortable. I genuinely wish the new owners all the success they deserve. Hope to visit again one day.
Food and service absolutely amazing, very quiet. Definitely a hidden gem.
Chef and lady on the bar absolutely friendly!
We will come again
The staff are so friendly and helpful. We loved the welcoming, cosy atmosphere of the pub and the drinks were much cheaper than anywhere else in the area. It's not pretentious, just good value for money. The rooms were reasonable, if a little dated. However, the views across the Common and the Thames really live up to Turner's painting. We'll be back.
Open hearth fire. River views. Spacious. Typically fairly quiet, though this evening a group seem to have made a party booking. Clean wc. Friendly staff. No real ale but Sam Smith's brewery if fairly decent. IMO their stout is superior to Guiness. Ate here once some while ago, it was a traditional Sunday roast dinner and also fairly decent, i.e., better than what's on offer in most pubs in the area. Younger clientele might consider it boring: no music. Underrated, I'd say.
