Huge thanks to Jamie and the team for putting on a great spread and surroundings for my aunts 60th birthday. It’s such a beautiful venue, a place which holds fond memories for my aunt. Everyone enjoyed it so thank you for your hospitality.

My favourite place to eat in local area. I was soo surprised to get such a great menu and service from a green king. It is true restaurant quality food and service. Steaks are my usual choice but everything I have ever eaten here has been amazing.

Never one for leaving reviews but I've been going to the phoenix now for many years and it's a great booza. Lovely food, nice staff and most importantly great beer 👍

It was very busy when we arrived but we'd booked a table. We've not been for a long time so didn't realise that it's table service in the restaurant so that was a nice touch. We were served fairly quickly and the food was nice. They did get my sons burger wrong but it was sorted quickly and without any fuss. The staff were friendly and helpful so will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful meal! Waiter was very polite and helpful! We were lucky to get a table - so glad we did!

We met up with our old classmates at a big reunion a few weeks ago, including one who we hadn't seen for many a long year. We decided to look for a lunch venue half way between us, then purely by coincidence another of our old classmates recommended this place! Great pub in lovely situation, with an extensive menu and great beers, served by delightful friendly staff. We had a lot to talk about after so many years, so it was most welcome that the staff were in no hurry to send us on our way!

Had a lovely meal here yesterday, it was wonderful to catch up with one of my friends Mathew Lowe, I remembered I had only cooked for him in the past so figured out it was his turn to cook lol. I almost managed to finish my mixed grill but it was a great sized portion, the woman had Fish chips and peas and really enjoyed it too. Good to catch up with Matty, the atmosphere is excellent, friendly helpful staff, lovely place, will deffinately be visiting again, much love mate.

A large party of us came today for lunch. We preordered which was all so easy and well organised. Jamie looked after us and him and the rest of the staff were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and food was absolutely delicious. 5stars from us. Thank you xx

Lovely atmosphere at this pub, always seems quite popular whether your going for drinks or food. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. It always seems really clean. Food was nice but menu seems a bit limited compared to how it used to be. Pricing seems more on the expensive side as a chain pub, but not ridiculously.

We had to wait a while to be seated. There was no member of staff around to great and seat. However, after sating this, we got a table and our meal came fairly quickly. We had burgers off the lunchtime menu, and it was really tasty.

Amazing food and drinks. Was a shame it was spoilt with us having to wait 25 minutes for someone to move our plates. They where only moved because the chef came out with our deserts after shouting for staff attention to say they where ready to go out. The chef ended up bringing our deserts out and was shocked the table hadn't been cleaned. He was very apologetic and took all our stuff away.

We had a great time service was good the only bad thing was my steak was tough grissel . In my mixed grill , £100 for the meal for 4 of us . No starters main course and two deserts . Pint cola , half cola , strawberry spritzer , j2o . Deserts brownie and ice cream , nicker bocker glory . Cappuccino and a mocha to finish with .

Rather nice pub with a varied menu and lots of tables. Food is good to great and tasty. Staff are amazing, honestly, you know your in the north as everyone here is brilliant. Nice work.

Amazing food and service. Lovely atmosphere! One of our table even got a 32oz tomahawk steak....cooked to perfection.

Went for a festive meal with family and all I can say is absolutely fantastic. The three course meal was divine, service was 2nd to none, all staff very attentive and very reasonable price too. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Food was really good and hot. Liked the fact that I could have a non gluten containing menu. The atmosphere was just ideal for a really nice evening. Staff were pleasant. Enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely recommend and return.

Back to the Phoenix for another meet up with my brother. Service was pretty quick, and I have no complaints about the food whatsoever. I ordered the chicking sharer starter as a main meal, followed by the sticky toffee pudding. Both were very good. It is going to now be our regular meeting place for future events. Thanks to everyone for a lovely evening.

Lovely place, excellent service even though 2 large party's were in at the same time, food was perfect, plenty of parking.

Felt like I was on holiday sat outside yesterday having breakfast. I went with my family of 5 and we had the best food! The staff were lovely, the food was about 15-20 minutes which isn’t bad and when it came it was delicious! They have recently got new outdoor furniture which is lovely, very comfortable and stylish. Cannot wait, this is definitely our new place for breakfast. Thanks Phoenix! x

We have eaten at the Phoenix many times over the years and last Sunday we held our sons christening celebration meal with our family. There were 22 of us in total and every single one of our party couldn't praise the food enough! The food was cooked perfectly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely area reserved and the staff were very attentive. The terrace and views are lovely for enjoying drinks and the garden very safe and spacious for our children to play. Can't recommend this place enough and we look forward to returning soon! Thank you Mel & all the staff xx

have always had good experiences when dining here before but tonight was terrible. one childsmeal didn't have any side veg like peas(bangers and mash) the other childs meal (fish and chips) the fish was that dry and over cooked he left it,looked awful. bang average mains of 'LUXURY' mac n cheese and mixed grill. the highchairs were all dirty and haven't see a cloth/wipe for some time by the looks if it. hate complaining and never do but tonight we were left very disappointed and will not be in a rush to return to a pub which is usually much much better than tonight. we would have spoken to the staff tonight but no one asked us how our meal was which should be standard ,we couldn't see any staff and the bar was busy.

Eaten here many times and always enjoyed it but today's Sunday lunch was awful we waited over an hour for the meal to arrive and it was cold and when it came back after being microwaved it was like trying to eat rubber we were not the only ones complaining and I felt sorry for the waiting staff who were in the firing line they tried to sort things out in a very respectful manner all credit to them the manager was nowhere to be seen perhaps they were in the kitchen trying to sort out the kitchen staff very disappointed shall not be going here again for some time .

Me & my family went for lunch yesterday, after waiting about 1 half hours it finally came meals were ok but my 9yr old granddaughter wouldn't eat her pasta wasn't cooked properly & too tomatoe , when the desserts came for the price I would have expected a bit bigger portion & you only get a very small custard jug.very disappointed after my son had took us all for a treat.

1st time eating at the phoenix. Very disappointed. Food took ages to arive, was cold when it did arive , meat was dry, and portion size...well what can i say. You pay over £15 for a mixed grill expect it to be good portions but no. Won't be eatin there again .

Delicious food, unfortunately my wife found a small piece of plastic in the bottom of her large glass of red wine, we told the staff, they just apologised!

Honestly, absolutely awful! Waited 45 minutes for food. When it came it was wrong. They couldn't make what we ordered (plain pasta) because everything is bought in frozen and pre-made. So we waited 45 mins for food that was never available in the first place. The rude and aggressive waitress came over to our table and started shouting at us because we weren't happy. The rest of the food was gross. The next table to ours had the same issues. Their order was wrong too and their food was also awful. Never, ever going there again.

Friendly service, good food, good atmosphere. I had the sea bass and risotto which was beautifully cooked. If I'm being picky, the risotto was a tad bland. The jugs of Pimms went down a treat! So easy to book on-line too.

After waiting for over an hour for our food to come,we were so dissapointed with the quality and presentation off our meals,i was expecting so ,uch more especially with the price off the meals aswell. The sunday meals we ordered had some items missing and when it was replaced it was even worse,you couldnt cut the beef,there was no pork crackling even though this states it on the menue,no apple wedges that were stated too,we orderd extra pigs in blankets and these were burnt and so on.we eventually left very hungry and was refunded.so dissapointed.

Went last night for tea with my parents, my partner ordered our food & my parents ordered their food a minute later. Our steaks came out, I had a fillet which was extremely chewy and tough, after waiting nearly 10 mins we asked the waiter if the other 2 meals were on their way to be told “yes, well erm I’m not sure” went to check & said because we ordered separately about 6 orders had gone in in between our orders, we literally ordered a minute apart & have the receipts to prove this!! Waited another 10 minutes & this was now an hour from ordering...we’d finished our meals so my parents asked for a refund which to be fair was dealt with straight away & the manager was very apologetic & couldn’t understand why there was such a delay. Hence to say we won’t be going back anytime soon & definitely won’t be recommending to anyone else!! Very disappointing!!

Came for Mum and dads golden wedding anniversary with 14 guests. All the service from the staff was excellent , nothing was too much trouble . The quality of the food was exceptional with plenty to fill even the hungriest of stomachs ... really can’t thank you all for making Mum and dads anniversary that bit more special

My wife and I called to the Phoenix for a late Sunday lunch. As usual the staff were very attentive, we'd only just sat at the table and we were asked what we'd like to drink. We ordered the food when the drinks came. We weren't waiting long before our food came, and it was delicious. We both ordered a Sunday lunch and we we're very satisfied with the amount and flavour. We had a very nice experience at the Phoenix and will return in the future.

Me and my husband had a lovely meal on Friday. Would highly recommend the sharing started and steak and ribs. Beautiful.

Have eaten here lots of times as it is in walking distance. Recommended to friends and family and have eaten there for special occasions as the food is always very good with a great choice and a specials board. Hubby decided to book a table just for us two for my birthday ..table booked 8pm midweek....huge mistake..no specials...at least 3 meals were not available from the menu. Ordered prawn cocktail each for starters...mine came with prawns still frozen !!!...sent it back..got another and was told they had taken the price off the bill. Hubby ordered curry...I ordered mixed grill...no can do as they ran out of gammon..I asked if I could have scampi to replace the gammon...no as theres not enough of everything else !!! Ok so I order steak and chips. £15 bottle of wine was also ordered but failed to arrive until we ended up reminding them of it....it came and was plonked on the table with 2 glasses...ok so we'll open it and serve ourselves then !!! We were so disappointed that we declined desserts and paid up....Yes the price of the prawn cocktail had been deducted...fortunately for us they had failed to include the wine...should we own up....no...it just showed the sloppy attitude on the night....someone was having a bad day in there. Well I can't say that we will be in a rush to go back.

The worst meal I have had in a long time, rude, slow staff. My meal was incorrect and what we ordered wasn't available and despite us waiting longer than the expected wait, we wasn't told about it until I sent the food back! Dry chicken, tasteless, salty pie and bought in pasta!!
