Well what a brilliant find
Had fish & chips best tasting fish I have had in forty years. Lovely home cooked chips too. My husband had the steak pie and he was impressed too.
Service was also exceptional
Lovely clean comfortable and friendly pub
We eat out at least twice a week , in various establishments including country pubs, not been to such a lovely place in years which ticks all the boxes like this place.

Beautiful, the decor is amazing, roaring fire, chest set and games on the table.
Food was amazing had the sunday roast, the sticky toffee pudding for desert.
Staff were very friendly.
Perfect place for a country pub lunch/dinner.
They do have rooms available although I didn't stay over night.
Also was informed that you can stay over in the motorhome in the car park out the back with amazing views. Please note this is a car park so you would be off grid, like no electric hook up and toilets ect. There are toilets in the pub tho.

Shamus and staff were amazing. We had a few drinks and a meal before going to the Cathedral. I had the best steak I have ever eaten. We also stayed over and the room was clean, spacious and we even got to see the starlings from our bedroom window. I would definitely recommend this little gem and we will be back. If you are looking for a stay over while visiting Ripon or somewhere for a family meal or Sunday lunch, this is the place to go.

Had dinner here while staying in Boroughbridge. Food choice was excellent and everything came fresh and really well cooked. Staff were outstanding: so friendly and welcoming. My partner had the Vegan mushroom pie which was superb! Recommended if you're in the area.

Met friends here for Sunday lunch but was too late for it , however resorted back to main menu which was excellent and well priced. Waitresses very friendly and big plus was dog friendly.

Called in after a nice country hike, roast beef and horseradish sandwiches and home cooked dirty chunky chips...absolutely amazing..Nice atmosphere friendly and welcoming and food was lovely. Will deffo be coming back.

The place is nice, definitely worth the visit. The village nearby is a nice small community with an interesting police museum.
Semi easy parking, a little bit confusing due to a private farm right next to it, but when in the car park it is very easy to find spots. They allow motorhome stopovers and are very common.

Fantastic stay, Seamus was a brilliant host. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and big, with a really nice bathroom. Very comfy beds and the breakfast is delicious too! Really enjoyed our stay, good parking and great location. Stayed here for Deer Shed and it was brilliant.

The one star reviews are obviously malicious/vindictive. We had a pretty decent meal tonight, proper pub grub, excellent friendly service & good beer all at reasonable prices. Don't know what else you can ask for so we'll be back.
We had a lovely meal here. The staff are so welcoming and obliging. A nice choice of food is offered on the menu at a reasonable price.

We stayed in our camper here and found the staff super friendly and accommodating.
I had a steak pie and I can honestly say it was one of the best steak pies I ever tasted. Excellent pint of Guinness as well. The toilets were spotless and everywhere super clean.
The breakfast was outstanding and all the staff had lovely smiles and made us feel very welcome.
I think we have found our new accommodation for the fireworks champiomships and cannot wait to come back next year and do it all again.
A lovely little gem well worth a visit.

Super service and dog friendly too (we left ours behind), we walked from Ripon town centre so we could make use of their beers and wines although there is a very large car park on site for those a little less inclined to walk. The restaurant had extensive choice and the steak salad was amazing. 5 stars all round and one definitely on our return visit list when we come back.

Booked a table and asked the landlord if we could park our camper for the night, no problem at all. A warm welcome on arrival.

Had a four day stay and the wellcome was friendly. All the staff made us feel comfortable. We had a small room that we were unable to relax in as there was only one wicker chair. The food was a bit hit and miss having been given burnt chunky chips and mushrooms on a very wet bun,both of which were inedible. Having said that we have enjoyed our stay in Yorkshire.

Absolutely love this place! The room was very cosy, clean, and comfy. I left my nightgown and dressing gown behind and they kept it for me! (2 other previous hotels stole my stuff). The location is wonderful. The hotel itself is just lovely. We really enjoyed our stay there.
