We eagerly awaited the re-opening of Kervansaray, now named Kervan-Kitchen. Having visited last night, what a difference! The now larger, double-fronted restaurant has been refurbed to a very high-standard. Arched columns make you feel you are in a different room, with each part of the restaurant. Some walls are decorated with wood, others with brick, and others with beautiful patterned stoned - it really is attractive. There is now a large bar area, where you can enjoy a drink, if arriving a little early. The bathrooms are decorated to a high standard with lovely crystal-rock sinks. I particularly enjoyed the 'icon-photographs' of Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, a nice touch! A lot of planning has gone into this restaurant, a great success! The new leather seating is comfortable, smart chairs and the Turkish lanterns project enjoyable lighting. There's a newly-revamped menu and wine menu with new crockery and large wine glasses. Everything has been thoroughly thought through to give this restaurant a five-star feel. On reflection, the prices have increased slightly on both the food and wine, but we enjoyed the Turkish White Wine, which was delicious and still at a great price. The food, as ever, was delicious. The lamb chops are always tops, which were served with a large selection of salads and rice. The aubergine with bechamel sauce was scrumptious! Just one little hiccup, and a small teething problem, but the tables are a little close together, making it a little awkward to get through. As I say, a small teething problem, which will no doubt be addressed. We live in the Gidea Park area and with an array of Mediterranean/Turkish restaurants opening around us, this is most definitely the number one restaurant within miles. The problem being, that having spoken to so many people, we all agree, which means that you will need to book in advance, unless you are lucky enough to walk-in. Saying that the staff are super and I am sure will do their best to accommodate. Being so close to Gidea Park Station, this restaurant was always packed out and I can only imagine that going forward, with the quality of food and price paid, for such good food, it can only get busier and busier. So, a little disappointing for us locals, as we wanted to keep it a secret! Going back to the staff ............. Vera always greets us with such a wonderful reception and smile, as do the team who work there. They really are a delight and do their utmost in delivering the best of service. This restaurant is great for couples, families or groups. If you want a candlelit, quiet restaurant, this isn't for you. This restaurant is buzzy, with a great ambience, classy decor, great food ........and all at a reasonable price. It won't be long before we will be returning. What a great addition to the Gidea Park/Romford/Hornchurch area!

Visited the new Kervan Kitchen yesterday on a busy Sunday afternoon. We hadn’t booked a table but were accommodated and given a good sized table, not all squashed round a 4 seater with extra chairs crammed in, as often happens with a family of 5. The restaurant looks fantastic and the atmosphere was great, lots of people chatting. Our meals were served promptly and were delicious, they served the children’s meals ASAP whilst the adults were happy to continue with their starters. Despite how busy it was, the waiter was jovial, topped up our wine glasses regularly and joked with the children. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and experience and am so glad to finally have such a great restaurant on my doorstep that welcomes families and serves great food!

Visited this place the other day. Nice restaurant. Ambience was lovely. It was a Friday and they had someone serenading with music classics. The food was well presented, lovely and tasty. The cocktail was great too. Staff were nice and professional. Nothing to moan about really. There is paid parking on the street and free parking after 6:30pm. Will be visiting again.

EXPENSIVE BUT WILL IMPRESS You need to attend when there's live music FOOD In terms of food, I was not shocked nor impressed, as it tastes like other kebabs I've tried at other turkish restaurants as they always have the same meat taste. I prefer Kebabs from a normal street kebab shop or from GDK. The dishes were quite expensive, as a main would cost you from £12 - 20. Instead of going for individual dishes, you might as well order a platter for everyone. The platter however disappointed me as it only serves 2-3 people. The portion as well did not contain a lot of meat. A platter has all available meat they serve on the menu, you get lambs, lambchops, ribs, chicken, meat, wings etc and 2 types of rice. There were 6 of us and we had to order 2 platters, 1 platter cost £65! We also ordered starter dishes that came with calamari, halloumi cheese bites, spring roll!? falafel, 2 meats. We also had bread starter, but not sure if that was even part of our paid menu or if it was a complimentary free starter. The bread tasted VERY good, I could eat it all day. Starter dishes were delicious especially the calamaris. If you ask me, ordering starter and 1 platter should fill up 4 people. The first lambchop I tasted was very very good, but when I had the second lambchop, the taste was not the same as the first one I tried. I was disappointed with the rib, it was just a piece of rib! And it didn't have much taste, it just felt like I was eating a piece of meat. Or maybe I am used with normal ribs from supermarket with sauce dribbled on top of them. But I was not happy with the portion of the ribs. Rice was very good, you get 2 types of rice on 1 platter, one white and the other yellowish orange. I like the koppernberg that I ordered because it was a 500ml bottle and they serve you with an squiky clean glass with ice and garnish. CUSTOMER SERVICE Customer service were good, staffs were polite and nice, they served us nicely. Our plates were small size dish which you can use for starters or main. It comes with a napkin and 2 forks and 2 knives. We didn't wait too long for our food, but we did wait for our table which was already booked for 8:30pm. We were seated around 8:50pm, we were waiting from 8:35pm. The waiters comes and put new plates on your table when you are done with starters. We went on a Saturday evening which also happens to have live music. The music artist was amazing, my family really enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe. The chairs were super comfortable! They also do a birthday celebrations announcements. There's also a hand sanitizer you can use when you enter the building. You can also take home your unfinished food. They call you hours ahead on the day of your booking, to confirm if you are still coming. PRICE The drinks we ordered were koppernberg £5, Jack Daniel with coke £6, apple juice £3, martini and 2 passion alcohol drinks. Platter is £65. For a family, you should be looking to spending over £100! If you typically spend £25 - £50 at a restaurant, be prepared to spend more here if you are coming with 4 or more people. Sorry I don't know what the service charge cost is. We spent maybe over £160+ for 6 people. We had 6 drinks, starter, breads+sauces, and 2 platters that cost £65 each. OVERALL I recommend this place, your love ones or friends you bring here on a Saturday/Friday Live music day will not be disappointed. Staffs were great, all gave nice service. I would give it a 5 but deducted 1 star because we had to wait despite booking a table in advance. Also food taste nothing special, taste like other Turkish restaurants. I wish they do a special unique twist to their kebabs that is different from other Turkish restaurants. I would give it a 5 star ONLY for the live music days, but if you were to come here on other days, it would be 4 stars.

Excellent food and good service. We had the mixed lamb and chicken kebab that was really delicious. The lamb was lovely and tender, the chicken very tasty and well cooked and the salad was very fresh complimenting the meal perfectly.

To start with the restaurant is well done up, everything is super clean, and the staff all round are exceptional. The Sigara Boregi was super tasty, and is perfectly portioned for 2 people to share - really well made and great tasting. The complimentary bread is so so good - the seasoning on it is outstanding and the sauces that come with this bread are insane. I would come here just for this bread, honestly it's thag good. For my mains, I had the Vegetarian Mussakka. This again was outstanding, the aubergine was done to perfection, the melted cheese, delightful and the topped with an incredible sauce. I asked for it to be made spicey, and they did not disappoint - just sublime.

Great place to meet up with friends, have celebrations. Tge menu is extensive offering a lunchtime special menu Monday to Friday. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, very polite and professional at all times. The food comes in generous portions so make sure your hungry when going, this is one place to try. Parking isn't great as they don't have their own parking, however there are places you can park locally. It has a great atmosphere definitely a place to go if your wanting to celebrate a special occasion let the staff know prior to attending, booking a table is recommended on weekends, staff will guide you if your looking to attend on a quieter day or time.
