We chose this hotel as it had dog friendly rooms. We booked 2 rooms for a Friday night and were delighted we chose it. It has recently been refurbished to a very high standard so was immaculate. Even the dog friendly room didn't smell! The service was excellent; from the warm welcome we received at Reception on arrival, to the friendly staff in the restaurant (which has dog friendly zones), we couldn't fault it. The breakfast was excellent too. We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
First time I have stayed since the refurbishment. Super rooms now all smartened up. Good Speckled Hen, pity the Abbot was not available. Delicious dinner tasty steak pie. Great breakfast, brilliant black pudding. You get breakfast made for you, not left to pick from numerous exposed trays.
I was lucky enough to stay at the Red Lion for a wedding. The room was lovely and the food at the wedding & for breakfast was particularly good. All staff were fantastic buy particularly the lovely lady on reception and the cleaner who was making up the room ready for check in. I would recommend a visit or stay to anyone.
What an amazing place, give it a try you won’t be disappointed! Me and my family have visited for food and drinks on quite a few occasions prior to having our wedding reception at the hotel on the 30th September. It was an amazing day, the food was delicious and the service was top notch, they are so well organised, serving 54 guests a three course meal along side a heaving bar and restaurant is no easy task. The staff are so helpful and friendly, the hotel staff are so accommodating and welcoming, check in for all the guests was smooth and speedy. We will continue to be frequent customers in the bar and restaurant for years to come, the venue holds so many wonderful memories for our family.

Went for an impromptu meal with friends. Lovely atmosphere. Meal was 5 Star and service was delightful. Great range of beers too. Would highly recommend a visit.
Went for lunch, recently renovated. Lovely looking pub inside, friendly staff and great food, reasonably priced. Good selection of beers and ales.
We keep coming back to the Red Lion, it's a wonderful place to visit for a drink or meals. The food is excellent with a range of meals to suit all tastes. We especially love the fish dishes.
Dogs are welcome in the bar too.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, and always try their best to make the visit as enjoyable as possible.
We haven't stayed at the hotel yet, but I have heard they are really nice rooms.
We were there for a function. The decor is lovely, bathrooms were spotless. Private room with your own bar which is great.The staff were wonderful and attentive. The food was good. Prices are not too bad either.
I give this place a 10/10.
The rooms are beautiful, bordering on luxurious with many additional and stylish features such as a fresh milk flask and quality cups and saucers.
The staff including the lovely receptionist and bar/waiting staff are exceptional going above and beyond every time. Whoever is in charge is doing a first class job with this place. Well done!
