Spice Island

This is mostly a takeaway restaurant, but the food is lovely and authentic. We dined in and had to get our own drinks from the shop up the road, but… could not fault the food or the quality. Also lovely family who took time to speak to us as new customers👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 PS. Friend was in a wheelchair, really accessible..

The food was really delicious and the portions were substantial, really couldn't fault this side of things, However, we ate in and this is where Spice of India falls down, Firstly, no toilet facilities, no alcohol or soft drinks sold (you can bring your own) very cramped seating area which has hard and uncomfortable seats. Table not set and cutlery just put on the table without napkins/serviettes.We asked for glasses which arrived wet not dried and once food was put on table there was not enough room and we had to put some dishes on the bench. Unfortunately there was no heating and it was absolutely freezing so we sat with our coats on, this in turn made our food go cold very quickly. I would use it as a take away but it really is not a pleasant dine-in experience at all.

I ate here last night with my missus and kids. And it was fantastic. The food was spot on the best tasting curry I've had in a long time. The service was excellent they did the best to serve me as quick as possible. I was aloud to bring in my own soft drinks and beer, The prices was the cheapest I've had on the island for Indian food. Even tho its so delicious. The restaurant it self is spotless and clean felt pleasant to eat my food there. The staff was kind and tried to be understanding I will always be eating here for a long time. Thankyou spice of India for our lovely visit. Also my kids had a fantastic time eating there.

This is a new restaurant with a bring your own bottle policy. Don't be fooled by the tongue and groove cladding and tables. The lady at the helm makes a superb curry. There was a constant line of people collecting their food. I had the Bombay chicken from the specials menu. The chicken was so tender, the sauce so good we mopped the plate clean. He had a jalfrezi which was also polished off with gusto. Seriously good meal. I must mention the young man serving who kept everyone informed. He did a fantastic job looked after all of us.

The surroundings are not posh. As you walk past the smell of the food is heavenly. Go in and the food does not disappoint. We ordered too much but all of it was delicious. Family run restaurant, lovely young brothers front of house. Mother in the back cooking. Well done, that is the best meal eaten out since I came to the island 27 years ago.
