Good food, good service by helpful staff and nothing seems to much trouble for them. Wonderful pizzas from a real pizza oven freshly made to your choice. A decent garden for the kids to play. A decent car park that seems to be full on most days. Booking is advisable as it is a popular place to eat.
Picked up a takeaway from The Gate last night and it was excellent. I was given an allocated time slot to collect and the food was boxed up and ready to go when I walked in. Hand sanitizer available to use as well.
Had the sea bass ravioli and when dished up at home it was of the same high standard
We use this place for office lunches and sometimes private for myself. There’s such a lack of family friendly atmosphere and community these days in eateries. This place is a total breath of fresh air. Friendly and very fast. Food very clean and fresh. No dripping in oil greasy rubbish with a server
Great food and friendly staff. The prices are good, but be warned the starters are pretty big and may fill you up more than you bargained for. The pasta dishes are good quality and there's good variety and desserts are always tasty, moorish and satisfying plus plenty of choice.
Absolutely brilliant. Really good service and the food was delicious. Tables nicely spaced out and we felt safe throughout our visit. Will definately be going back.
I've visited twice for dinner and not been disappointed either time. The outside of the building isn't great, but don't let that put you off - it's worth going in! The inside is like a mini-Tardis - there are quite a few tables.

If it hadn't been for the great reviews I would have driven past and not bothered going in, but I'm glad I did. We all had the pizzas, which were some of the best I've had. Inside the pub is pretty nice and friendly.
Very unassuming from the outside but well worth a visit. The fresh stone baked pizzas are very good and so to is the pasta. Easily the best Italian restaurant and pizza take-out in Saffron Walden. Highly recommend.

Can recommend the seafood risotto or if a quick lunch is needed then the toasted brie and bacon ciabatta is hard to beat!
