Hana Zen Sushi Bar - Pier 39

I went with my wife and 3 kids. So that we could still get happy hour food deals the bar tender sat us nearby and served as our waitress. She was courteous and helpful. The food was so good my kids finished everything except the fries and usually it's the opposite. They had the best rainbow roll I have ever eaten as well. Plus, the view of Alcatraz was awesome!

If you're in the mood for sushi and find yourself at Pier 39, this is a solid choice for it. They have all the staples that will take care of your craving. Are they "super fancy" and have a large selection of rare types of sushi? No. But the place is clean, passably modern furnishings and a great view. Do they fly in their fish and ingredients from Japan? No. But the sushi and entrees and apps are prepared with care. And is the menu diverse enough for folks in your party to find something that isn't necessarily sushi? Yes. Our experience with service was nothing like what the reviews are mentioning. Is it the best service I've ever had anywhere? No. But our server checked in on us several times, always had a smile, and was prompt and communicative. Added bonus? They have San Miguel draft!! Visiting from Colorado (where no restaurants really carry San Miguel) and being Filipino, it filled me with pride and made my heart happy :)

This place was one of best stops we had while visiting San Fransisco. The Sushi wasn't as good as what we get here in Colorado but definitely the best stop out of the California restaurants we visited. It has a great view of the ocean and bridges. VERY reasonable lunch, with beer, 4-5 rolls, and starters. I will definitely revisit this place when we go to San Francisco again. The servers were also fantastic!
