Just for a treat we visited the Railway on 22 March. The restaurant is bright and airy. Our greeter and server were very friendly and the food brilliant. We had a fish sharer platter to start, pork loin for main and the best chocolate fondant I have ever ever tasted. Whoever that chef is hang on to them, they are a diamond. Well done on such a wonderful establishment. We will be back.
Absolutely fantastic place! Lovely staff and even better food. Can not recommend this place enough!
Excellent public house on the Thatchers Cider complex. Obviously a full range of Thatchers Cider and the Gin they make too. Beautifully decorated bar area with lovely views and comfortable seating. We didn’t eat however the restaurant was set extremely well and the tables looked lovely. The menu read well and perhaps we will try it another time. Booking essential according to the bar staff. Large beer garden. Spotless throughout. Large car park with disabled parking spaces available. Disability access throughout and disabled toilets on the ground floor - main toilets are up the stairs on the second floor.
Had lunch and a couple of different ciders, all good. Staff curteous and efficient. Sat outside and therefore difficult to say around atmosphere. A little more expensive than i would usually psy but overall no complaints.
Great atmosphere, cider heaven if its your drink of choice. Other drinks available.
Lots of seating both inside and out. Cosy bar area, covered heated patio area also wooden tables all around the pub.
Food choice was good although a little pricey 🙄 burger was good, more than enough to fill you up.
Restaurant area has a few tables if you wanted table service, we ate outside, food arrived quickly and at the same time.
Would recommend a visit.
Went for food after the tour. Sat in the bar rather than the main restaurant. Food was a little more expensive compared to other places however you get the quality you pay for. Can really taste the difference with the quality of the meat. Cider wise I would recommend Cheddar Valley as its a bit lighter and easier to drink. Would love to go there and eat again.
Went for coffee with a work friend. As it was lunchtime had a bar snack. Very much better than the Nachos I had at a visit to a previous pub. Staff were very accommodating and very friendly. Happy with my visit. Have eaten in the restaurant before and am never disappointed.
What can I say the Railway Inn next too the Thatcher's cider brewery. We had a very tasty light bite and selection of ciders on offer. As a lady I enjoyed the Big Apple which I found a light and refreshing drink. Served in a super little Thatcher's glass(we liked it so much we bought some). George served us and was a great host as were the other staff on, we felt cared for. Having tasted the cider we decided we had to take some home and travelled a little way up the road to the shop purchased some cider, cheeses and our souvenir glasses. Very enjoyable afternoon
We did the Thatchers tour first which was very good and then had more drinks and food in the bar after both 5 star highly recommended well worth a visit.
Only slight downside was we tried to book the restaurant on line in advance which told us it was fully booked yet the whole time we were there from 13.00 to 17.30 the restaurant was literally empty!
We finished the tour around 16.30 and went to the bar and asked about the restaurant again to be told that the restaurant now wasn't serving now until 18.00 and bar food only served to 17.00 with a hour in the middle with neither option.
We ordered food from the bar quickly before we missed out all together. The food was really nice.
Just a little disappointed that we could have a proper meal in the restaurant for what seemed to be a system error.
Wonderful pub, beautiful restaurant and absolutely fantastic food! The staff were super friendly. I would definitely recommend and book in advance if you can so you're not disappointed.
Popped in on our way back from Clarks Village in Street so had not booked. We were seated quickly and our drink order was soon on the way. I had the Lamb Navarin & hubby had the Pork & Apple Sausages with mash.
I felt the food took a little long to come out but we had arrived right in the middle of the lunchtime service, so it wasn't too bad.
My meal was absolutely stunning (my first time trying this dish) and I didn't want it to end. Hubby said it was the best sausages he'd ever had.
Plenty of ciders to pick from of course (you can see the cider mill from the pub).
We have booked a table for a Sunday Roast - hopefully the food and service will be as good as today.
Dropped into the shop on the way home to nab 2 boxes of Gold for £30 - perfect!
What a delightful place for a drink and food, the Thatchers Rose cider was delicious too! And food looked good, we will be back
