We’ve had dinner there twice recently. The pizza is amazing, the owner is super nice and the service was great. Don’t be put off by the exterior and interior, the kitchen puts out delicious italian food.

It is so easy to be misled by the whim of the moment! I do not believe reviews should be written just for the sake of writing and/or seeing one’s name in print. Any review should be written to inform and help other people make a decision on valid information, facts and feelings. With a friend, I visited the Wheatsheaf for the first time on 13th June 2019, not knowing what to expect, especially as the restaurant/pub had just changed ownership. I wondered, if on another visit my impressions of the restaurant and food would change. To be fair, subsequently, I have visited the Wheatsheaf, with a different friend, twice (3rd and 12th July). If you want glitz, razzmatazz and flamboyance then the Wheatsheaf is not for you. The Wheatsheaf is a quaint, typical country pub/restaurant, set in its own grounds, with a good size car park, lovely outdoor, tranquil, peaceful and relaxing eating areas together with a charming, equally restful and tasteful indoor restaurant. The new owner is undertaking refurbishment of the restaurant to make it even more friendly, warm and welcoming. (Sorry, I have not visited the bar, so I cannot comment.) The restaurant and kitchen are scrupulously clean. When you arrive, you are met by polite, friendly and inviting staff, with large smiles and a thanks for visiting as you are accompanied to a table of your choice. At no stage are you rushed, rather you are invited to have a drink and choose your food at your leisure. All food is cooked to your liking/taste and although there is a menu, they will adapt it to your preferences. What can I say about the food, very little… other than both my two (one male, one female) friends and I found the food to be perfect and the portions are outstanding. I have a small appetite, after the first visit, I have not had a starter, otherwise I would not be able ‘to do justice’ to my main course, which has been delicious each time. As well as various ‘dishes of the day’ the menu has a great choice of starters, main courses and deserts (the deserts are almost ‘to die for’, they are so appetizing). There is also an excellent range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, with some very good wines and wonderful liqueur coffees. The proprietor (Pep) and his Chef (Carlo) have four main interests and passions: to bring their love of good food and the authentic flavour of Italy to their restaurant, to deliver the culinary delights and wishes of their patrons, to prepare and serve food of the highest standard and to ensure all their patrons have their tastes, needs and requirements fully met. What more can you ask for… oh yes!... Pep (the proprietor) and Carlo (the Chef), are only too happy and ready to chat to you about anything and everything, including their love of food and what they want, intend and hope to deliver to your table. These two guys, with their friendliness, charm, manners and their passion for food and their dedication to the highest possible restaurant standards are exemplary. Will I recommend the Wheatsheaf? Most definitely. Will I eat there again? Certainly, at least once a month. I live in St Neots, there are plenty of restaurants available, but the Wheatsheaf is the only one I will go to by choice, for me, it is the best. The two accompanying pictures show Pep, the proprietor, and a special light desert, Cremino al Caffè, that Carlo specifically made for my friend as she wanted something ‘light’, it was not on the menu, he went away and made it specially for her… and I had one as well… wow… it was wonderful!! :) Thanks Carlo and Pep, they were greatly appreciated.

A very simple country restaurant where food is only surpassed by the wecolming staff. As you enjoy quality food prepared by the lovely Carlo, you will have the opportunity to see the owner Pep and strike a chat, bringing with him the flavour of Italy. Most recommended.

Food was lovely, parking was good and staff were very friendly. This felt like a local venue, tables and chairs felt a little dated but I enjoyed my meal and would return.

Not particularly exiting decor in the restaurant but all very clean. The food was fabulous as were the staff and we would be keen to visit again if in the area. The main course portion was very generous and we were far to full to have a dessert but they sounded wonderful.

We were a large, noisy party for my father in law's 80th birthday. The staff dealt brilliantly with the different groups ordering and made it easy for us to pay at the end of the evening. Superb food, wonderful staff, a great night. Thank you.

Pleasant pub. Good menu range. Freshly prepared food and very generous salad. It seems to be more of a dining place than trad drinking pub. Good value, pleasant service, nice location, interesting building.
