Lifeboat Fish Bar

Choosing places to dine in Scarborough can be difficult because of the amount of establishments. This in mind we decided to choose the one with the best reviews, a trick we have used many times when visiting a new town or city! Thankfully our decision to go to the ‘Life Boat’ reaffirmed our ‘best review’ idea. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady called ‘Carmen’ and seated in the restaurant. We both had fish and chips that were served on a warm plate and the food was not only delicious it was also nice and hot. The quality and portions were 2nd to none, we were very happy and very full when we left. There is a reason this place has the highest rating, it’s the best in Scarborough and we visit the area many times a year so we will be returning. Great service and food……. If you are reading this and looking for somewhere to eat this is the place. Two words come to mind: Perfection personified!

Called in tonight with the family, we called in advance and booked a table. We received a warm welcome from the young lady in the shop area and also by the waitress in the restaurant. Our order was taken promptly and our food was on the table quickly. Haddock , chips, mushy peas were all delicious. Haddock cooked perfectly and the best chips I have tasted in a long time. I have severe allergies and all the information I required was available. Everything was first class and the restaurant was beautifully clean. We will all return and are happy to recommend. Please be aware that it is only a small area so there may be a wait for a table to become free but they have a good system in place that let you know

The staff were really nice when we stopped by for fish & chips. The restaurant was very busy so people were having to wait, they were professional taking numbers to ring when they had tables free. We had haddock & chips, and cod & chips. We both really enjoyed what we had, both fish were very tasty generous sizes. Would visit again next time

Ok, I think this may be a little controversial but I think I just found a chippy that’s beats any in Whitby. The staff were friendly as I entered and although busy took my order straight away, and the fish was battered and dropped in the fryer. After a short wait the Cod & Chips, with Scraps, was delivered to me in a sturdy box and off I set with them. The chips were a beautiful golden colour and the fish batter was crispy and golden. The cod flaked beautifully and was utterly delicious. A real find just off the front and I will happily recommend to everyone.

Came in and the staff cleared off a table and got it prepared swiftly for us in the cafe and we had fish and chips which were cooked to perfection, curry sauce was fabulous and the scraps were a delightful treat! Plenty of drinks on offer but I had the Paradise Punch Tango. The perfect chip shop, would recommend to anyone!

Based on a score of 4.9 on here (Aug 23) we ignored the main promenade chippies and headed here. We weren't disappointed. 😋 For £35 we had 4 fish suppers (2 haddock, 1 cod & a lite bite haddock). They were a good size portion with free scraps. The fish were nicely cooked, not oily and tasty batter. A definite 5 STARS 🤩. there is a small cafe too but full when we arrived so we got takeaway. Highly recommend, see attached pictures. Don't walk on by. 😎👍
