Great beer and superb food at a good price. It also has a great coal fire, I would recommend this great place.
The Highlander is always so welcoming we come to Scarborough 3 times a year for motorcycle racing and always make a bee line for the Highlander service is always spot on we are made so welcome food is always spot on service excellent no complaints if you haven't tried it you need to.
Thanks to an A board on the street discovered the highlander bar and its exceptional staff. Friendly, relaxed, cosy surroundings make it a perfect stopping point for a drink or a hearty meal.
Home made traditional pub classics served with a smile.
Special mention to Angie and also the young guy on the bar ( tues evening )
For being so kind and arranging a meal for my young lad with special needs. Nothing was to much trouble and thanks to them we had a fantastic time.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a friendly, relaxed, comfortable bar with great food and exceptional staff.
Thankyou for making it a fantastic break and will definitely be back.

Went for a meal, good quality and exceptional value. Recommended for casual drop in.
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff that can’t do enough for you. We were in Room 7 which has fantastic views over the whole of Scarborough coast. As with many seaside hotels the rooms are a little bit tired but were absolutely spotless so not an issue at all. Highly recommended
Fantastic little pub. The chef was more than willing to go the extra mile for us. Food lovely and hot and cooked to order. Fave drink Plum Porter on tap so delighted with that. The inside decor could do with an update but orherwise perfect. Staff very friendly. Will defo be returning. Menu varied and resonable price.
Great pub. 7 real ales numerous others plus a huge selection of whisky.
To start of anyone with arachnophobia should not attend this hotel. The rooms were laced with spiders, maybe because of the weather that's besides the point. The bathroom sink is way to small you can't wash your face or even your hands.I found an apple in one of the draws along with old teabags and sugars. There was a small hole in the wall next to the main door. The shower curtains stunk of foist and mold. The temperature of the shower was either boiling hot of freezing cold no exaggeration.Overall do not let the prices intrigue you.Because you 99.9% will wish you had booked somewhere else.
Had Sunday lunch.
Beef was really tender. Veg was cooked well but yorkshire was tough. Good value. Place could do with a bit of a do over. Maybe swept up outside as was messy, especially the green covering near the stairs.
But nice food, very friendly and lovely staff.
