Fab place for food and drink. Just had lunch, food, service and staff brilliant. Massive outdoor area, with an outdoor stage. Massive lawned field for kids to run around on, plenty of parking, dogs welcome, water and dog snacks available. Highly recommend, great place to visit.

An amazing Dinner at the Black Dog this evening. Really enjoyed it. Clams Mussels and Cod with Asparagus and the best sauce ever. And Crab prawns salad as well as a separate dinner. The staff are so helpful and pleasant. Definitely the place to visit

I was sceptical about the small amounts of chips I’d seen online but when my haddock and chips arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The chips are not a small portion, but a regular sized portion of excellent, hand cut chips, hidden beneath an absolutely enormous piece of fish. My better half ordered the chicken and ham pie, and it was easily big enough to feed both of us.
Booked a table as a midweek treat for us and was greeted on arrival by a lovely gentleman.
Ordered our starters and mains and didn't wait long at all for them to come. The food was plentiful and cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. Staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be going back again soon!!
Lovely pub, large car park, you may have to book at busy times. Steak cooked to perfection and huge portions. Very warm in the glass conservatory area in summer. Service excellent, quite pricey, but you pay for what you get.
We’ve passed this pub many a time and car park always full. Finally booked a table and wasn’t disappointed. I asked to adjust my meal to suit, no problem and was delicious. Husbands steak and ale pie was full of melt in the mouth steak. Staff lovely and dog friendly. Thank you for a lovely meal and eve, we will be back
Just had a lovely birthday lunch for 14 this afternoon. We arranged it in advance and the owners and staff were really accommodating (allowing us to put up balloons, decorations, cake etc). Everyone loved their meals and it was really reasonably priced.
The staff really made us feel really welcome and we'll definitely visit again. Review from the birthday boy 'top notch'.
Stopped off on the way to whitby, just wandered in and asked if they were dog friendly and if we could eat . Very accommodating and welcoming. Little treats given to my pooch and made to feel comfortable with excellent service. We didn't know what to expect and only fancied light bites .We chose the fish sandwich. Wow ! It was amazing, a full chip shop style fish in a huge bun with fresh coleslaw, salad and a pot of tasty mushy peas. So pleased we Stopped off and set us up for the rest of the journey. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing food! We went on Sunday and the staff were uper accommodating and it was a lovely atmosphere! They even had live music. We paid £72 for four adult meals and one childs meal but don't be put off by the price!
