Really nice hotel in an interesting Victorian building. I received a warm welcome and my room was large, comfortable and quiet. Very comfy bed. Breakfast was generous and delicious.

Stayed while visiting family nearby, nice big room but it was warmer than we like but apparently the radiator wouldn't turn off fully on the first night but sorted for the second night, breakfast really good going back soon.

I've been there a few times with friends for drinks and food, once for a friend's birthday, and for theatre rehearsals. The service is top notch, with a friendly atmosphere and a great drinks and food menu.

The rooms were spotless , friendly and welcoming will certainly stay again couldn’t recommend enough . We travelled from Kent. The place is very central and is in a lovely village .

Lorraine is a wonderful host and a true multitasker. Between greeting guests and preparing excellent breakfasts, she works tirelessly to provide a great experience. With cosy, comfortable rooms, a characterful building and a fantastic beer garden, we couldn’t have asked for more.

We nearly walked passed this place, as it was pouring with rain we ran in for shelter. We were glad we did. We were made to feel most welcome, hot chocolate drink was followed by a great heart warming meal. The Shrubbery was not easy to find, but worth the effort if you are in town. Don't walk past, come rain or shine give it a go. We will return next time we are in the area for sure.

Wow! I had to cancel a meal as I was poorly on Valentine's day. Booked for today, Friday. Walked in not only to be remembered but they had set the table with sparkle hearts, candle and love tokens because we had missed special day! That is what I call above and beyond. Meant the world to me that they did this and the food was absolutely amazing too. Thank you so so much. Xx

Stayed on Business only for the one night..
The place has just undergone a major refit now very clean and tidy.
Room was smart air-conditioned, up to date and had everything I needed
New function room seems to be coming together nicely I'm sure this will soon become a major destination venue for business weddings etc..
ample parking, friendly staff and reasonable prices your really cant go wrong staying here.
