Joyful West's Shellfish Bar

During our holiday to Norfolk in August, we decided to try some local shellfish and to our disappointment we found everything to be very overpriced and lacking in choice. 3 tiny pots of jellied eels and this very tiny crab came to a grand total of £17, the ladies behind the counter had no knowledge of the produce they were selling at all which is quite strange as this is supposed to be a fish mongers? We are originally from London and live in the Dover area and are used to buying quality local fish and was quite shocked at this place, would not recommend, obviously a tourist trap.

I had a lovely seafood pot with no dressing to eat there & a dressed crab to take away, all delicious ! The couple on the stall was so friendly helpful & knowledgeable, the lady even said that if I had taken my own gluten free bread she would have made me a sandwich, How wonderful was she ! After being Refused food in Lobster pub for being Celiac, This lady made me feel normal again ! Thank you both so much.

The crab sandwiches are great but the prawn sandwiches are exceptional. Second to none. For years, as Sheringham regulars, we walked on by drifting past this place. But having dabbled last year it's now firmly in the must visit category. Interestingly, a similar thing happened to me as happened to TripAdvisor's American Robert in 2019. I ordered a prawn sandwich and queried the fact the little prawns were put into a tub (for transporting to the sandwich putter-togetherer). The only difference is I found the response funny. A little more chatting and it turns out the lady has a lovely, slightly wicked sense of humour. Maybe leaning towards a bit of a local character type. Perhaps they don't encourage humor (sic) over the pond in Looneyville. Might be safest I guess.
