A good pub, a modern take on an older building, the bar and lounge areas both have comfortable chairs, 3 well priced ales on the bar.

Fantastic venue, probably the best Sports Bar in Shrewsbury the landlady and landlord and family always make you welcome. Yesterday I walked in my drink was at the bar and the racing was put on the big screen for me whilst eating my subway, where else can you do this? Thank you, for this and the amazing indie tunage Long Live the Hop and Friar x

Barbara and her team do a fantastic job here, the pub is welcoming and very friendly. Had a great pint of Inch's cider for a reasonable price.

Always a warm welcome when we visit. I can assure people the lanlady is lovely and never pressurises you into buying a drink. Unfortunately some people expect to watch the football without buying a drink.

I absolutely love the Hop & Friar, it’s our favourite gaff to go to for watching any sport. The staff are lovely and run the place really well, with a great community feel. My friends and I have been drinking here for roughly 9-10 years and we’ve never had a problem. Great pub if you’d like to have a few with your mates in a comfortable setting.

Came down for the weekend. Walked in here and got a brilliant welcome. Staff very friendly. Can recommend the wainwright's hand pull, they obviously clean their lines regularly, very nice pint. Asked if we could play darts as we had brought our own (asked this due to previous negative review). They had tables in front of one of the darts boards, due to the England football game later (the other one was in use) they were sooo obliging, said no problem and very politely moved the tables. They didn't have to and could have told us no. Such a welcoming pub and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back when we are in the area.

I moved to the area a year ago and found this place, it’s now my regular, I’ve joined the darts team and have made some great friends, can’t speak high enough about the place. Great beer and perfect for all sport!
