We love the Greek islands, and this place makes us feel like we're back there. A combination of restaurant decor, friendly Greek hospitality and generous portions of authentic Greek food. This place is a gem, and one of our go to's for before seeing a show at the mayflower. The food is always fresh and full of flavour. This time I had the buyourdi to start, and a mixed souvlaki (pork and chicken) as main. The saganaki to start is a firm favourite too. Another option is the meze (requires a minimum of 2 people) which is offers great value and enables you to try most of the dishes on the menu (do mention if there's anything specific you don't like, and they'll serve an alternative for that dish), but it's definitely a great option if you're not sure what to choose; taking this option you'll be sure to find you favourite for next time you visit!
This place is lovely. A real gem. Its low key and unassuming. The food is great, the staff fantastic and it's very reasonably priced. I had mixed souvelaki, and my wife had moussaka. Would come again and recommend to others. They don't take plastic so will need to have cash or bank transfer. Also they are busy so will need to book
Booked to go on a Wednesday.
It was a lovely place, very relaxed, very friendly, lovely atmosphere. A gem in the centre of town. Ordered the meze for two and it was fantastic. So much variety and great tasting fresh food. So much that I couldn't actually finish and I am a big eater. We took a doggy bag home. I would honestly say to anyone to speed an evening here. Well priced as well. We shall return. Lovely front of house lady and a great chef . Very impressed
Best Greek restaurant in Southampton run by a family that care about the food and their customers. Prices are very reasonable as well.
Excellent food, fast service, great surroundings..went for our Anniversary, and glad we did.Was recommend to us by one of our dog walking aquantaces and have him to thank..we ordered the Meze,,I suggest you go there starving if you have this.. Tremendous!Well done, will see you again 😁
My partner walks past Blue Island on his way to work and for many years wanted to dine in but never had the opportunity to. This was until he and I decided to try this restaurant out of curiosity. And were we glad we did.
The moment we walked in, it was like we were transported to someone's homely dining room in Santorini as the white and blue colour motif was reminiscent of the island. The main chef, who's behind the kitchen opening greeted us at the door. Staff overall were very friendly and welcoming.
Service was quick and efficient as well. I ordered the moussaka which was simply delicious- soft and fluffy with a subtle creamy flavour and at the same time packed with mince meat. The size looked small at first glance but it proved to be quite filling towards the end.
My partner, who had the chicken souvlaki, enjoyed his dinner all the same as the chicken was melt in your mouth tender and seasoned perfectly. All mains come with a generous portion of Greek Salad and crispy, fluffy chips. It was definitely well worth the money spent as servings were massive.
Some things to consider, this is a no debit/ credit card restaurant so try to find a cash point before going in. Toilets are after the first flight of stairs and are immaculately clean. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended for those who love Greek food. We will surely come back.
We were a week ago with my family. We were passing through the city and found it by chance. An absolute gem, authentic treatment by the couple who run it and absolutely fantastic food. Recommended 100%. Greetings from your Barcelona fans!!!
Well I can say that after visiting the Blue island I love Greek food! I took my father there for his birthday and we were treated like royalty. Lovely atmosphere and gorgeous food so I would definitely recommend a visit.
Absolutely LOVE that Greek restaurant. The food is succulent, with a real feel of the authentic Greek cuisine. The meze is delicious and there's so much to eat! Really a restaurant I would recommend!
Cons - no air conditioning in the restaurant so it does get pretty hot in there in the summer
