I haven't been to his pub for years and was pleased by the value of the carvery. The only gripe I had about the food was that the Yorkshire Pudding was as tough as old boots. Whilst waiting for a member of staff to come and carve the meat I notice that the doors within the kitchen which I presume led to the store rooms was absolutely filthy and this worried me as to the condition of the rest of the kitchen. Manager take note get it cleaned or repainted!!!.

A group of 6 had a meal yesterday as a walk-in. They did mishear us / note it down incorrectly as asked for 3 adults and 3 children so ended up waiting 45 mins for a table. They did apologise and kept us updated. Be aware they are limited with tables larger than 4 so if you are a group please book ahead as we saw many groups turned away. Once seated, carvery is of course immediate, although they also told us there was no wait on food. I am coeliac so was advised which of the offerings I couldn't eat and given GF gravy direct from the kitchen. The food was great, the meats were moist (I had turkey and lamb), the potatoes were lovely and good variety of tasty veg. Staff were lovely and attentive. Overall, a nice meal but definitely book if you know you are going. For smaller groups, you are also able to seat yourself in the bar, which we noted many people doing and finding seats quickly.

Friendly staff at the bar. Food is exactly what you would expect - perfectly adequate. Do need to clean up outside as the mess around the bins don’t convey the best first impressions when you walk up from Woodmill Lane along the River Itchen.

Found a table in the bar as restaurant booked for carvery. Really lovely by the fire and a helpful friendly barista who took our orders. Waited an age for food as they were so busy but worth the wait. Fillets of tasty fish in a light batter piping hot in a fresh light bap .. triple cooked chips were delicious as was the tartare n salad. Thank you! Can’t believe some of the negative reviews here. All the meals brought out looked and smelt delicious and there was no faulting ours or the staff.

Went here for breakfast and could not recommend enough. Breakfast is unlimited and of great quality while not breaking the bank. Customer service was also good. Would definitely recommend!

The restaurant area is very nice to look at, spacious & airy. We arrived without a booking at midday on Sunday & the staff were able to seat us, people were arriving 10-15 mins later & being turned away. We had a carvery each. We had to queue for it but this did move quickly. Best part was the Yorkshire puddings, they were huge. Although the turkey was nice, it was slightly dry. The veg were all either under or over cooked. Overall it was an okay Sunday roast, certainly had better elsewhere.

We haven’t been here for about 15 years, but a family get-together prompted our visit. We visited on Sunday 3rd and the place was busy, but not chaotic and the staff coped very well. We all opted for Carvery. All meat was available and the friendly chef cut reasonable portions for us all. Plentiful veg and nice gravy was available too. Parsnips..? Yum. When we tried to book online, we were transferred to the Toby website, but The White Swan wasn’t there! We ‘phoned and booked instead. For busy families: Take your time and enjoy decent food cooked by someone else! There’s a big car park which can be used as a dropping off base for walks in the adjacent wooded areas & canal walk.

Lovely carvery with good service from a long established waitress who is always friendly and helpful and beef that was perfectly cooked and a fair price.

My wife decided to take me for breakfast at the White Swan yesterday. This was the third time this year that we have breakfasted there. It seems to be getting more popular, perhaps word is getting around, or maybe we were a little later getting there. The service was was quick and the waitress very pleasant and friendly. The fact that they were getting busy didn't detract in the slightest. The build your own, unlimited breakfast will set you up for the day. Sausages, bacon, hash browns, chips, black pudding, beans, tomato, mushroom and eggs either scrambled, fried or poached. If you are in the area and you want a good breakfast, go to The White Swan.

Been coming for decades and thought on Friday night the pub was virtually empty due to bad weather but perhaps not. No steak available, told non put on the lorry. Ordered burger instead. Poor quality, lots of risk in it, inedible. Triple chips cold and not cooked, sent it back and opted for some sliced beef and bits from carvery. Yorkshire’s like cardboard, veg boiled to death and luke warm. Husband ordered gammon, too salty to enjoy. Waitress very helpful and tried her best to rectify situation. Went home and husband complained of tummy upset and vomited. Dreadful night out.

Work in the construction industry had a little bit of dirt on my boots would not let us go in, as I work on the M27 and at the mo there is a lot of us working there and would of liked a £6.99 all you could eat breakfast but a small thing like this, as the restaurant was not busy to get turned away not good, and at the end of the day I go a lot there for Sunday dinner and it’s very good..... bit of a let down for breakfast

Had the carvery.I thought the chef was on a mission to dispatch the smallest amount of meat possible onto my plate. He succeeded! Most of the vegetables were lukewarm at best although the choice of vegetables was good.Staff were friendly as was the final bill.
