Food was amazing! I had the fried chicken breakfast wrap, really different and delicious!
The service is a bit odd though, counter service which means ordering and paying whenever you do, we sat around for a good hour after finishing with no plates cleared as to be honest could have had another drink each but with a dog and baby it was a bit awkward to go to the counter to order.

Best cafe in the area. We go there regularly for coffee and cake, and have been sometimes for breakfast, which is lovely.

It was a good experience because the of the value, taste and location but I won’t give 5 stars because sofas and carpet didn’t seem clean to me. A beautiful place like this at such important location must be clean and sparkling all the time. Interior requires more decoration and of course, cleanliness. I could be happier with a little more warm welcome but it’s okay as there’s no such thing as perfection. Took photos of menu for reference as it may help others.

There has been a definite improvement in the quality of the food. I had a full English with a nice flat white. Couldn't fault it. If I had to be really picky, I'd say it was more expensive than other places, but I was happy to pay for good food and service.
Real friendly staff who were very accommodating

A lunchtime meal of poached eggs on toast with a latte- eggs hot and with lovely runny yokes. Great service with background, music resulting in a relaxed atmosphere. Recommended 👍

A beautiful place to go for a family friendly breakfast or a business meeting. The food ranges and varieties for vegans are brilliant.
The staff are always extremely friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help.
Parking is located beneath Mettricks and is 2 hours free parking.

Great cappuccino with oat milk and hot dark chocolate. Nice spacious room, so there is a lot of space between tables. There is also a big outdoor sitting space .
The food took 30 min, but the avo toast and the full English breakfast were really nice. The avo toast was quite spicy , lots of chilly flakes.

Second visit, it has a nice relaxing atmosphere, good cocktails and food, pretty view.

Visited with a friend, and we had a coffee outside, overlooking the water, which was lovely. It always takes a while for anything to get to the table, so it's not the place for you if you're in a hurry. I had a latte, and they seem to come in a glass cup with no handle. So you either can't hold if it's hot or it's lukewarm. Usually, the latter. I have returned in the past, but always forget to ask for a normal cup. I enjoy going to Mettricks, but it has its drawbacks.

I like Mettricks as a brand, and really hope for all the success possible, but this location always just feels empty and lacking in real ambience. The food and drink is good, but that's sadly not everything when you're socialising.
Also, the drinks menus were literally replaced middle of an evening with new ones that were more expensive. Quite why the staff couldn't do this for the next day, instead of rolling it out in the middle of service, I'm not sure.
Portswood and City Centre are both much more pleasant in terms of having a nice buzz to them.

This cafe has become something special to me and my partner. The service could be a little faster sometimes (having recently left my job as a barista I know how long it takes to make drinks). However the drinks are lovely as is the food.

I might be biased as it is very local to me, but Mettricks is a great place for coffee, has a decent brunch menu and evening menu and is just a real nice place to go for drink, whether that's a coffee or something stronger in the afternoon or evening.

We came on Mother’s Day expecting it to be busy by the wait for coffee and food went on abit too long. Upon ordering we were told the kitchen was backed up and food was about half an hour. That was fine we happily agreed. However the coffees took about half an hour and the food over an hour. We were given a free coffee due to the wait, a nice gesture and our food and drinks were amazing! An egg was missing from a sandwich, I told the waiter who said he would get one but he never did return... when our food did arrive there was also no cutlery and I had to ask two different people to obtain some as the baskets were empty. The food is great and the people are great too but there’s just not enough staff and that’s been an issue since you opened! Please hire more people as Southampton obviously want your better coffee and good food!!

Where do I start - I arrived with my hubby at 9.41 am we waited in the queue very patiently for 5 mins. Whilst someone was paying I reached for the menu. Saw & decided before lady fully paid hers. So we ordered full English breakfast and a latte & Americano white , and can we not have tomato nor black pudding. Ok She replied and said drinks will be a couple of minutes. We were given a bottle with a wooden spoon in it and we sat outside the back. At 10.13 my husband said I'd better check where our hot drinks were. The lady came out & said sorry about the wait and do you require sugar , we replied yes please. We never saw her again. This was 10.10 am So husband went to get some. Our drinks was cold. Our breakfast - arrived at 10.16 am ,eggs beans and toast & sausages was cold , the hash browns were lovely and hot , the bacon was crunchy and cold and drenched in fat which it looked like it needed the oil changing . The tomato skin on plate still which I clearly stated I can't eat tomatoes when ordering , & looked like it was hidden under my cold fried oiled eggs. I've never rated or ranted to a meal out ever so this is my first. More waitresses needed so food could go out on time , will not be returning being charged over 21 pounds for what nice hot hash browns. !!!!

Although I’ve always thought it over priced the food is always good and because I live in the plaza it’s convenient, however went in bank holiday Monday, We were told they only had 1 person in the kitchen and 2 waiters (on a sunny bank holiday Monday by the waterfront and packed!!) therefore waited well over an hour for food (we were told half an hour). Today went down for breakfast and ordered 2 breakfasts, after waiting nearly 45 minutes only to be brought one meal as the other order hadn’t been taken! The staff are lovely but if the owners want to charge those prices then they need to manage the place far more effectively and not leave their staff to apologise for them!!

This was hands down the best Brunch food me and my wife have had in Southampton. The staff were friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food.
We have 2 major faults to point out though.
My wife was using the toilet and had also checked that it was locked as she went in, as she was washing her hands another customer had yanked open the door. So it looks like the lock was either broken or faulty. She was not impressed.
Our table was really sticky/clammy like it hadn't been cleaned very well.
It's clear the food is good quality and it was worth paying that little extra. We will go here again for sure.

I'm a Big fan of Mettricks in Town, love the coffee and the idea of the place. Woolston however is a total disappointment. I have been a few times now, wanting it to be nice- but it never is.
Today we went for brunch, ok so we expected it to be busy on a lovely sunny Sunday. But when we arrive the place was carnage, dirty tables everywhere, 30 min wait on coffee. Our food was very average and the coffee that arrived after the 30 mins was made way to hot, the coffee was burnt and the milk was not the skinny I requested.
The staffs attitude was not great- just saying they were short staffed and busy- which I get- I would not have minded waiting 30 mins for a coffee if the reason they were slow was because they were not letting coffee standards drop- this however was not the case!!
I'm afraid to say we will not be returning

The coffee shop that Woolston deserves - excellent! Great atmosphere and menu. Would recommend!

Always friendly, helpful, good with dogs always offer water dogs. make good coffee and cocktails. Food can be hit and miss on the old menu particularly had a few things wrong with food before but sent it back and got a replacement no problems staff went out of way to make sure we were happy even offering free cake and coffee on one visit. I think the menu was a bit streched but since they cut it down haven't had any issues. various family members visit most Sundays usually have no issues with food. And very good disabled disabled access.

We have been visiting Mettricks since it opened and really like it. However, recently standards have started to slip. We arrived at 9.40 am this morning, the toilets had not been cleaned and there was no toilet roll. The floors in the cafe had also not been cleaned and there was no water available. The brunch was excellent as always, but come on Mettricks get the cleanliness standards back up or you may start putting people off coming.

Love this place! We regularly walk here with our little dog and enjoy one of the many yummy milkshakes. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Even the dog gets a drink!!! (In the form of dog bowl filled with water) keep up the great work mettricks. X
