After 25+ yrs using Portswood Takeaway their retirement forced our hand so after many poor local experiences we tried South Ocean & have to say other than occasional issues with temputure the food is excellent, freshly cooked & decent chicken breast in Curries etc.
Those polystyrene hot boxes could help if multiple deliveries.
Overall Fantastic. Epic quality for a takeaway service. Always on time and well presented.
Only slight let down is not being able to use their own site for orders, as it doesn't like my postcode. Shame as would rather order direct than through Just Eat...
Overall this is a good Chinese and we order from here very often. On a rare occasion the food is not fantastic, for example you can tell the chips or chicken balls had gone cold or from earlier in the night and they have been refried. Chips are then so dry and no fluffy potato inside. The salt and pepper chicken can be hit and miss, sometimes it just tastes of salt and with hardly any vegetables - then other items it’s so well seasoned, saucy and tastes amazing! The curry is good, always ask for it hot (spicy) for added flavour. The beef here is very good, always cooked well and soft and tender. Have tried many dishes and overall all very good. Like I said there are some hit and miss times but that’s to be expected. If ordering at the weekend always order early if you can or the wait can be up to 2 hours for delivery, but if you can collect you can do so within about 20 minutes of placing your order. We will continue to order with South Ocean, and it is definitely the best in the area.

This is actually a restaurant which serves really good food, so don't be put off by its appearance. Its food is consistently decent and I can't say that for a lot of other restaurants.
I have been ordering food from here for years. It is always very good quality and quick delivery. I am very fussy with Chinese takeaway, which is why I always order from here.
Ordered in store and receive my food at an average of 10mins. Very quick considering we order food for 3-4 people. However the order can occasionally be even faster. Delicious food cooked perfectly. One of the best Chinese takeaway in this area without a doubt.
Always polite and friendly. I love ordering from them and they are my trusted Chinese take away. Have been for years. Prices basically stay the same. Food just gets better and better when you don't think it's possible. Even got a Christmas card from them once and a calender. Just a really nice place.
