Gin & Olive Southampton

With one week till my 40th, a group of friends and I looked for a restaurant to have a nice meal and a few drinks. Gin and Olive Southampton caught our eye, and what a great night we had. The selection of gin on offer is massive, with all other drinks catered for as well, and our food was also great. I had a gourmet burger, which was a really good portion size, plus I obviously had to try 5 or 6 different gins, which were all served in large gin glasses with Fever Tree tonic and garnishes that made them look brilliant. I really would advise a trip to the Gin and Olive for an amazing night out with a great atmosphere and friendly staff! Thanks for a great night, Ian

Beautiful place in Southampton offering a vaste range of gins including classics, florals, citrus and spicy options in addition to a selection of unusual discoveries. Would love to see more gin based options on the cocktail menu.

We had an amazing time at Gin & Olive in Southampton. The staff were friendly, attentive and totally efficient. The food was delicious, my duck was cooked to perfection and the seabass and pork belly apparently were too. Such a choice of drinks - all presented beautifully. Would definitely recommend, even on a busy Saturday night the serving staff could not do enough for us. Will definitely be back for the bottomless brunch.

Brilliant cocktails especially 2for1 until 6 o’clock. food was fantastic and loads of it. The staff were friendly and great atmosphere. There were 12 of us and we had a fantastic night. Thank you please don’t change a thing especially the chef

Went to try it out for date night, 9pm before a movie at 10.45. Fridays are always a real test of customer service because of how busy they always are at most restaurants. Firstly, LOVE the decor, really nice atmosphere. The huge screen behind the bar with a shark livestream was ...huge. Genuinely in awe. There's fun gear, steam-punk-type wall hangings at the entrance and as you move through to the back the walls change to a burnt-paneling wood effect and some traditional-styles portraits of animals in suits and uniforms, which looks quirky and unusual but is done tastefully so it becomes a talking point rather than tacky. The menus are detailed and extensive. It was busy with other customers but didn't feel crammed and the wait at the door was barely a few minutes with a smile. My partner and I are both allergic to gluten AND dairy which can make eating out an unwelcome challenge, but the staff were incredibly accommodating, and there were loads of options avaliable. We had the pork belly (crispy, well marinaded) and wings (coated in sauce, side salad well dressed and well presented) to start and the veggivore and pulled pork burger as mains (both good, pulled pork was nicely spiced and veggivore had a really lovely combination of flavours and textures, side fries and sweet potato fries were good too). The portion sizes are generous, I'm usually more than capable of finishing an extra portion, but genuinely couldn't finish the full plate despite really enjoying the flavours. Which was really lovely, and felt like you really got good value for what you were paying for the meal. They had soya milk avaliable for an after dinner coffee, their range of olives was extensive and the harlequin was really lovely. I'm not actually a huge fan of gin so was DELIGHTED to see a huge range of whisky, rum and cocktails too. I asked the staff for a recommendation, and explained which whiskies I tend to like, and which ones I know I don't like and was very happy with the one the waitress ultimately recommended. The service throughout was prompt, friendly, accommodating and they were knowledgeable about all the menus. It remained attentive without being intrusive, and it was easy to flag down a waitress or waiter if we needed one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or rebook.
