We eat at this restaurant almost weekly. The staff cannot do enough to ensure our comfort and enjoyment of meals, particularly when guests accompany us. The Manager Tommy treats us with total respect and today, not for the first time, Natalie our waitress coped very well with our large table of 9 guests. Our usual waitress Magda was having well deserved time off. Our waitress last Sunday was also taking her A levels, as well as working a long shift at Beefeater. All excellent staff. Cannot recommend Strawberry Field too highly. Today’s birthday lunch was excellent. We have also celebrated birthdays here- in fact 18 of us recently attended a 60th birthday meal.

Pleasant friendly staff but I was a bit disappointed by the food, I had the chicken tower which, it says, has their 74 BBQ rub which I found a little bland, others had the rump steak & battered haddock which they enjoyed.

Had their double stack burger. Burger was nice however a little pink in the middle and the coleslaw was off. I did report this and an apology was given, I was offered a replacement but didn't want another portion of 'off' coleslaw 🤷♀️ staff were friendly once they'd started to serve us. Kinda ignored us when we walked in even though we'd book. Meal was £16.49 for the burger, bit overpriced!

Easy parking, good food - ribs and chips/salmon salad - was very tasty.
Only criticism being the chips I had with ribs, would have been better if bigger triple cooked type. Service was efficient and friendly. Good value for money... I would eat at Beefeater again

Came in for dinner on a Friday evening, around 6:30pm.
Food was INCREDIBLY fast coming out, literally five minutes for starters and then 10 mins for mains. We tried the festive burger for our mains, which was surprisingly lovely, and it was a nice change having roast potatoes and gravy instead of fries. The waitress was very pleasant, even got me some extra bread to go with my pate starter as there wasn’t nearly enough to enjoy all of the pate itself.
Only real negative would be the portion size of the burger - was shown as a huge stacked burger in the picture and when it came out it was significantly smaller.

What a delightful surprise! I’ve not been here for a few years; and previously had been underwhelmed and often disappointed. Not so this time. We were greeted by Vlad , a very impressive and personable gentleman who showed us to our table and made our young grandson feel very special and not invisible as is so often the case. Vlad returned several times to check we were happy; nothing was too much trouble for him.
Our waiter was a chap called Caleb. After the the fantastic experience with Vlad, we were astounded that Caleb also treated the diners with kindness and respect . He too made sure our grandson was very happy and attended to.
Quite a remarkable experience, and the polar opposite of all my previous experiences there. Obviously things have improved beyond all recognition. I have no hesitation in recommending Strawberry Field, and we will certainly be returning again soon.

All I can say is wow, we ate here as part of the premier Inn meal deal, most meals are included or the more expensive meals are included for a small supplement... I had a ultimate mixed grill which was £19.99 and the supplement was £2.99
A Drink and dessert or starter is included and an eat all you can breakfast at £25 per head
This place has opened my eyes to beefeater... From the minute we were shown to our table we have had impeccable service from Mia
The food was cooked to perfection ( Brad was the chef ... Well done 👍🏻)
and trust me it's a great size portion for anyone who's hungry.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and hope my local beefeater can come even close to this high standard.
Both me and my partner had a wonderful eating experience and are extremely pleased with quality of the food and service.

Buffet breakfast... Food was all ok, if a little slow with the topping up the juices and the milk for the coffee machine etc.
It seemed like one member of staff was trying to run around and sort everything out and was getting quite stressed out bless her whilst no one else was visually making any effort. She was working hard to sort things out but sometimes a few people took her as rude.

Ordered bottomless drinks.was sitting dry for 10 mins as the waiter/waitress just looked and walked on by.whilst 4 of them were having a chat at the bar
So had to go up to the bar to get more drinks.
Might be an idea if the staff can't be bothered to serve the bottomless drinks to have a dispenser where customers can refill.
Bear in mind the place was dead

Came again today. 5 adults and 2 children.
Everything was fantastic, from the guy that seated us, the food and the price. Kids eat free, what a winner. I doubt you will find a better value breakfast. Well done Strawberry Field.

Went with three friends on Sunday evening. We were waiting some while before we were given a menu to pick from. When the meals were brought out two had ordered the steak, ribs and prawn meal. Both of them the ribs were overlooked so that the outside was burnt. One person had the veggie linguine which came with flat bread which she had to ask the waitress for. My friend said the meal was very tasty but it was such a very small portion. Two of us had a chicken meal which we both enjoyed. Usually the waiting staff pop back to check the meals are okay while you are eating but not on this occasion. As she cleared the plates we told her the ribs were burnt and the veggie meal was not worth the money. The manager came over apologised and said he would speak with the chef. We all had desserts which were lovely. When we received the bill the waitress said the cost of the desserts had been taken off as an apology. It seemed they were having a bad night as two other tables were having problems with their food orders. The table of six diners behind us had problems with all but one meal. Five sent their plates back to the kitchen which left one diner eating alone. They waited ages for their food to be brought out and he had basically finished his meal by then. At one point a guy came out if the kitchen who we assumed was a chef. He appeared to be waving his arms around and not in a good mood. Not sure if I would return to be honest but at least the manager was prepared to acknowledge that there were problems with meals.

If you can go elsewhere - do! Tonight was there last chance and they failed miserably! There were several complaints of cold food, poor tasting food, vouchers not being able to be used at the tables around us! My son's starter - garlic bread was a piece of something like tescos frozen slices...not appealing at all, very anaemic! My onion and cheese tart was riddled with pieces of pepper, but no mention in the menu - that went back. My son's burger was dry as a bone and looked burnt. My main wasn't too bad, given previous experiences apart from the triple cooked chips which looked so over done and crispy I feared for my teeth. We only went to use up the points voucher from previous visits...we won't be going back and will try somewhere else in future.

My partner and i went for my birthday meal last night and we we were impressed. The service was smooth and timings were good , just had to wait over 20mins to get the bill. I had the gammon and it was lovely, really meaty and succulent, couldnt fault it . My partner had the surf and turf: it was good but his steak was done 'well' when he asked for 'medium rare' but he said it was pleasantly tasty still (the waitress did offer to swap it but he was ok). It was the starters that really impressed us: he had the lamb koftas and said they were cooked well with some naan, i had the chicken goujans and OMG the best ive ever had! The most moist and tasty ones ever! The menu is very beefy (its a beefeater) not much choice and not a place to go on a budget, but we will go again �

Food was edible- just. I had the gammon, it was dry and rubbery, my son had the chicken escalope which was luke warm and his words were " the blandest chicken he has ever put in his mouth ".
We have eaten in other Beefeaters around the country and enjoyed the food.
I can only describe the food here as an overpriced "wimpy "restaurant �

Took 20mins before someone even came to take our drinks order Waited ages between starters and main last night 1hr 20 mins to be exact wasn't told that we would have a long wait then come for breakfast this morning wait 10 minutes before a member of staff said I will be with you then waited another 10 minutes before we were sat down by this time there was a queue behind us out the door. Then when going to get breakfast there was 10 of us to be exact there was hardly any cooked breakfast available and u then stand in a long queue why your waiting for more food to come out!!!!! Need more staff!!!!!! And need polite staff!!!!!

Place looks lovely and the staff were very nice too BUT the food is awful!!
The waitress was very apologetic and very embarrassed that the food she brought to us looked awful and overcooked and tasted bland and stone cold.

The waitress we had was rude we hadn't even been sat 30 seconds before she asked for drinks then huffed when we asked for more time. Then we waited 10 minutes for our drinks. We ordered our starters and mains, we ordered a side of garlic bread to come out with mains it came out with the starter then we waited 10 minutes for our waitress to clear our starter plates then another half hour for food which I would understand if you was busy but you wasn't. When we finally got our meals the burger was lacking flavour and the chips were really dry. I ordered another drink and the waitress was really rude and just walked past as I spoke to her. Fair to say we won't be returning

Another great breakfast this morning. We had a large table for 11 and were made to feel very welcome by the lovely, friendly staff. Hot buffet was fresh and very regularly topped up. Nothing is too much trouble. Couldn't fault it. Thanks.

I really can’t believe the majority of the reviews on here , we’ve been coming here for the last 6 years or so . Never had a problem with food, staff , management etc. We have always been made to feel very welcome and never felt the need to complain about anything. Keep up the good work all of you. We had a party of eight (8) and upon arrival were quickly shown to our table, the waitress quickly took our drinks order and allowed up to make our meal choices.

There were 7 of us eating yesterday evening. Service was excellent. I had a jacket potato which was really small and was barely hot and my husband and my sons steak could have been better quality, but the sweets were worth 5 stars absolutely delicious.

Seemed like the waitress wanted to get us out the door before we even sat down as she came to take out drinks order 30 seconds after sitting down and was very rude when we asked for more time. After making our order we had to wait for what felt like year for our food and when it did come was very plain and lacking passion. The menu was very plain and unimaginative unlike a lot of places in Southend. Lacking uniqueness.

Went to the new Beefeater at strawberry fields. The staff where very friendly and the place looked very nice indeed. The lady who served us took our drinks order and they came very quick she then took our meals and the starter came out quite quickly but it was the wait between starter and main meal that took its time and being it was 12pm and not very busy for a Thursday being the 2nd day of opening we had waited 30 mins etc for the food but when the food came it was lovely indeed. I know they were getting used to a new menu and new till system etc but they made us fill out a form to see what could be improved etc. Hopefully next time we go the improvements will be better. Overall the food was lovely xxx
