Had a lovely meal here today, fish and chips and scampi and chips, great value for money, staff friendly and attentive including (Tamara) our waitress. Portion size huge so had no room for dessert :) I will be back. Meal and soft drinks for two £20 absolute bargain.
Although service isn't all that brisk (food takes a while after ordering to arrive) it is very tasty and worth the wait. Prices very reasonable, waitresses lovely and friendly, so i definately recommend!
Come here for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the roast dinner and the chicken nuggets, chips and beans from the kids menu. Everyone ate all the food and so was clearly satisfied with what they received. The young man who looked after us this evening was very helpful and polite. The desserts was really nice also, the whole experience was nice, just wish the vegetables on my plate was hot instead of cold, but other than that, we was happy customers.
Visited on a Monday night, was quite quiet which was nice, friendly staff and plenty of seating choice, ordered food via the app and came quickly and was really nice, all in all a nice visit and would definitely go again, good value food as well plus lots of drinks choices and easy parking on site.
My Husband and I came for a anniversary meal. Service was great. Staff were friendly and attentive. We didn’t have to wait long between ordering and the food arriving. The quantity and quality of the the food was was very good. I ordered a Rare steak, the chef out did themselves, it was cooked to perfection. We will definitely come again and will be recommending The Saxon King the family and friends.

I had the honey & mustard glazed ham hock which was well cooked & I would recommend for hungry people as it was a good size, the burnt basque cheesecake was also lovely.

This was the second time we’ve visited after 30% off mains vouchers were posted through our door. We find it really helps with the cost of eating out. The ambience is nice, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is good. Last night though we had to wait quite a long time for the food, but they did take a ‘side’ dish off the bill as a way of saying sorry. We would still definitely return!
I visited the saxon King last Sunday with my girlfriend and daughter for dinner and had a roast the meat was lovely none of it was dry the gravy was lovely and so was the potatoes, the only problem was the vegetables were on the cold side
They have a play area for kids which is nice and the desserts where nice too, overall pleasant experience and the price wasn't too bad either.
Homemade kebabs were unreal 👌 brilliant service and attention to detail.
I love this pub! Always open, always warm and welcoming…. James is my favourite and so is the sausage and mash!! Parking is always available, the menu is lovely and the service is always with a smile. My favourite pub!
The food was delicious and the value excellent. The restaurant was quiet and we didn’t wait long before our food was served. It was a very hot day and the temperature inside was lovely and cool. Our waitress was friendly but left us a long while before bringing the dessert menu. I will visit again sometime soon as very pleased with the overall experience.
Overall it was good. Service was a bit slow though, but the food was good. If I was to make a suggestion for a better overall experience, other than quicker service, it would be to have a large round table available. When there’s a larger group of people, it’s very awkward including ding everyone in the conversation, when sitting at a long table. Round tables are far better. Just my opinion, when you surely must have many groups of more than 4 , that would prefer to see everyone easily.
