...I'm re-reviewing the Swan, a fish and chip shop in Southport, for two reasons. Firstly, because it's brought me more joy over the years than almost anywhere else I can think of, and this post is an extended "thank you" for countless deeply brilliant dinners from as far back as I can remember. Secondly, and more importantly, it's because as many people as possible from around the world - and specifically London - need to sit down to a plate of haddock and chips at this Merseys
Came here as currently its 4.7 Google rated. It was very busy and a large restaurant. Good value and very tasty. Nice to see Heinz ketchup and HP sauce, which is a big bonus. I had the set meal large haddock, chips mushy peas, slice of buttered bread and a pot of tea for only £11.75. Nice to see an option of mushy peas or carrots. The tea let it down for me, weak. I had a replacement with an extra bag but unfortunately didn't taste great. So I'd rate everything 4.5.
Amazing chippy in Southport!
The restaurant prices are excellent compared to the high inflation driven food prices currently with set menu meals just over £ 10 including drink!
The staff are friendly and food is great quality....
Recommend!
Had lunch here yesterday, the best fish and chips we've ever had by a country mile. Freshly cooked, didn't have to wait long and very reasonably priced too. Well worth a visit, we'll be back.
My wife and I fancied fish and chips and found this little gem tucked away on a back road but wow, the fish was amazing and the chips were perfect! Also had a side if gravy which was also beautiful
One of the best I have ever had so top marks for this fantastic chippy!
Fantastic chippy just off the main drag. Food tastes great. I had battered haddock, chips and mushy peas and it was lovely. There is lots to choose from on the menu. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals, also.
The staff are really friendly and engaging.
You can takeout or eat in. The seating area is spacious and clean and table service is offered.
Parking is on the road and is pay and display.
Toilets available.
The best fish&chips we evere had! Cooked to fresh to order. Reasonable price for very good and tasty food. We visit this olace for second time and always coming back! Friendly staff with quick service. Fish is cooked professional and melts in your mouth.
Second time visiting this Chippy / restaurant, and both times, it's been great. The Fish+Chips meal with mushy peas bread and butter with a pot of tea is well worth the money. Happy staff on hand to take your order and all cooked fresh for you. I will definitely be back.
I have had dinner here on many occasions, and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and plenty of it. And the occasional celebrity also pop in, David Jason being one of them when I was eating there.
A famous fish and chip restaurant which is arguably the best in Southport. It's tucked away off Lord Street which is accessed by a little alleyway next to the Bold Hotel. There's a cosy atmosphere for diners and the service and price is great. Staff are friendly and service is fast and the food is excellent. The crispy cod is perfect and comes with bread and butter and a tea or soft drink. There are other chippys in Southport but I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Best chippy in the world and I have visited many.
Lovely fresh fish with light non greasy batter and perfect chips cooked in clean oil with quality potatoes.
