The Sandgrounder Take Away And Seating Area

The Sandgrounder has been a staple of Southport life for years. I have great memories of eating scraps with my Grandad as a kid. I took my partner for a trip down memory lane and she agreed they serve the best chips we’ve had in years. The staff are friendly and funny, the food is great and we paid £6 for sausage, chips and curry sauce. You can’t get better!

3x Fish & Chips and Sausage & Chips. Portion sizes were just right, and the price was reasonable considering the location. Food was freshly prepared, and you could really tell. Tasty flakey fish and chips just crispy with enough stodge to be filling. I'll definitely go again next time we're over that way.

This was my first traditional fish and chips in a long time as I live in Japan. I have to say that it didn’t disappoint. Great crispy delicious cod and lots of lovely cooked chips served with salt and vinegar. My wife also loved the food - it’s her first trip to the UK! I was also impressed with the clean and spacious eat in area on the second floor. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and the delicious food.

I'm a coach driver. I've eaten fish n chips from Inverness to Hastings & everywhere in-between! The Sandgrounder in my opinion is up there amongst the best in the UK! Chips were thee best I've seen & eaten. Fish was excellent, crispy batter with none of the gooey, slimy, spongy white uncooked stuff underneath. Fish itself was tasty, chunky, flaky white! Fish & chips only £7.00 & a big enough fish & a generous portion of chips. Believe me that's cheap compared with the south. The Sandgrounder would be justified in charging way more considering the high standard of food I received, in my opinion. I will definitely be visiting The Sandgrounder everytime I'm in Southport in the future. Based on my overall experience today, I can confidently highly recommend. (It's only fair I mention that the pics I took are a tad pale in comparison to real life).
