Wheelchair Model Diaries Bill Rimmers Cafe (Benthams Way Southport) I took my mum for a belated birthday brunch to a little place I had often driven past, called Bill Rimmers Cafe. It’s just opposite Dobbies Garden Centre, and has its own car park with disabled parking bays. The cafe had wide double doors and was a nice flat entrance for the wheelchair to glide through, with help opening the door. The inside had a cosy country feel, yet it was very spacious, and we chose a seat with a window that overlooked some lovely farm animals! The table height was accommodating to stay in my wheelchair too. The menu was great, lots of choice. Its an order and pay at the till situation, which was fine as they bring over your drinks for you as well as your food. We both chose Eggs Benedict which is one of my all time favourites! I had mine with avocado and mum had crispy bacon, we had coffee and fresh orange juice to wash it down! The food was so fresh and really delicious, and very reasonably priced for what it was. They source as many locally grown ingredients as possible and it shows! I noticed an array of tempting homemade cakes on display, but after brunch we were nicely full the portions where just perfect. There was loads of space between tables to manoeuvre the wheelchair, and the accessible toilet was easy to reach, and very clean. There was a shop section selling some lovely honey and jams, chutneys and crackers and gifts too. The staff were really warm and friendly, a really lovely hidden gem in Southport! 9/10 Excellent
