Live Oak Cafe

I have worked with Live Oak on several occasions as I am a wedding photographer. I'm always asked to eat at the weddings and I can say the food is excellent! I've also gotten to know the friendly staff and watch how things are prepared backstage. They are a top notch group of professionals. You will be treated well.

Following a Celebration of Life service, we had a reception at Live Oak on Howe for about 50 people. Sean presented a delightful spread of appetizers. The buffet was beautifully presented from the pork loin, artichoke dip to the homemade pimento cheese; everything was delicious. The house was comfortable and cozy and allowed for easy mingling among the guests. The front porch and screened porch supplied extra room or the ability to get outside while enjoying the food, beer and wine. We also had a wonderful server who attended to every need of our the guests.

My wife and I were married at the Point on Oak Island this past Tuesday evening and had an intimate dinner reception afterwards for 25 people at Live Oak on Howe. We struggled for the better part of a year to find a venue in the area capable of accommodating a small weeknight reception, but due to the nature of beach rentals running from weekend to weekend, this made the most sense for us. All of the food was simply outstanding and very reasonably priced. I believe literally every guest at some point that night told my wife or myself how much they enjoyed it. Sean and Bobbi did a terrific job. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a venue to host an event.

A friend recommended Live Oak on Howe for catering an intimate wedding weekend on Oak Island. The menu choices offered by owner Sean Muncy were very good and pricing is so reasonable. Our guests (24) LOVED every part of the meal, and Bobbi Blackmon set everything up for us to make this a totally stress-free event. Bobbi also baked a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. We highly recommend using Live Oak on Howe!

Sean and Bobbie are nothing short of magical. Given these crazy COVID times, my wedding was significantly downsized and we were in the market for a small, private venue for the dinner after my husband and my wedding ceremony. This place fit the bill in size and budget. The ambiance was amazing, the staff phenomenal and people have said the steak medallions were the best steak they’ve had ever. I also heard my guests say the cake was the best wedding cake they’ve had, but I’d go as far as to say it’s the best cake I’ve ever had. Both Sean and Bobbie worked with my egg intolerance (not easy for a wedding cake!) and everything was beyond words. Thank you Sean and Bobbie for making our wedding dinner one we’re not soon to forget!

WOW! I hosted the rehearsal dinner for my wedding at the Live Oak Cafe and the food really blew my socks off! The shrimp and grits were simply the best I have ever had, the steak was cooked to perfection, the pesto chicken pasta was to die for, and overall everything was delicious. I would say there was not one miss. Add that to the intimate atmosphere of a private party in a beautiful home converted to a restaurant space and it was fantastic. Sean is an excellent chef and I would recommend his food for any occasion!
