My husband spent many years as a sushi chef once we moved to southport we have had limited options. Tengu is the best sushi in town for sure! Unfortunately they had to close in house dining but that did not affect the quality of our to go order!

We were craving Japanese so bad but wanted to eat inside so avoided this one until we noticed this was the ONLY true Japanese restaurant. We went and ordered the filet and chicken and it didn't disappoint! The owner was very nice and shared with us he can't find anyone to work which is why he is unable to open his doors for dining. #heishiring 😁

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area.
I order from them at least once a week.
My meal is always fresh and prepared exactly the way I request.

Some of the best sushi and hibachi in down. The owner is super nice and very accommodating. I've been here several times and I have never had a bad experience. The California is excellent and I think they give you a little more food than other places here. Its definitely worth a try. Also, there mixed drinks are great!

I’ve read through reviews. As a waitress here, I love my boss and I love working here. I’ve seen people complain about the salads having no toppings- way too many people were complaining about picking the carrots and cabbage out so he stopped putting it in there all together. Yes, we usually only have one waitress working every night because unfortunately people don’t want to work. We can’t help that. Some of you have complained about a long wait time knowing there’s only one server, and with no one wanting to work, how are we suppose to control that? Anyways, I’m here to say, I LOVE the food. I’ve known Seth since I was 16 and have worked here on and off (because I move a lot) I’m 26 now and work here currently. Couldn’t pat him on the back more for all he does.

Was a bit concerned, it being in a shopping center but inside nicely decorated. Not a very big place but the food was delicious. Tempura was some of the best I've ever had, sushi was fresh, good and very well priced to the portion. Tried the steak, shrimp, pork and chicken hibachi between the six of us. Everything was good but the chicken. The show was average but what really made our experience was Luke our waiter. He was knowledgeable, quick with service, seating people, getting drinks, taking orders and getting us anything we could possibly need. Just went above and beyond. So glad we went went to dinner here.
