I visited the Sail Loft a few weeks ago with my husband, it’s somewhere we had previously stopped for coffee but never sampled the food menu. The restaurant has a modern vibe with a vintage twist and if you sit to the right of the restaurant you can look out over the marshes with a distant view to the harbour. There is an extensive food menu on offer and a plentiful selection to tempt you on the specials board from starters and mains to desserts. There is a lot of choice and it’s a great choice to make a selection from. We looked through the starters and whilst I could have happily chosen a starter we decided to head straight for the mains, knowing portion sizes may be quite generous. I had the Open Club Sandwich and a bowl of Skinny Fries, particular attention was made to the enamel bowls! You can’t beat enamel tableware. Love it! The sandwich was delicious, packed full of fresh flavours. The chicken breast was juicy and succulent and the bacon crispy. The poached egg was simply perfect. My husband opted for the Burger with Chunky Chips. The burger came with salt beef rather than the usual cheese and bacon burger. My husband tends to opt for a burger when we eat out and he said this was one of the best he has had. The perfect balance of flavours and the salt beef complemented the flavour of burger perfectly. We were definitely full after our mains, but after 10 minutes we decided we would sample something from the desert menu. I chose the Chocolate Brownie with Pistachio Ice Cream. I have never had a chocolate brownie like it, it was everything a chocolate brownie should be but, it wasn’t heavy and didn’t hit my stomach like a lead ballon. It was light and I was definitely thankful for this considering the main course I had. My husband opted for the Raspberry Cheesecake Sundae from the specials menu. He loved it, the fresh raspberry sauce mixed with ice cream and cheesecake was delicious. The only thing we said was, if you are serving sundae’s you definitely need to eat them with a long thin spoon rather than a normal dessert spoon. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, the food was delicious, the ambience and feel of the restaurant was relaxed and the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Perfect for weekend lunching. We definitely will be back.

Dog friendly, lovely food with varied menu. Arrived for an early lunch and got a table next to patio doors. Great spot for us! Childs menu very generous portion. And open club sandwich very tasty! Will definitely return!
