Peter's Plaice

A perfect spot to indulge in a fish and chip supper. The cod was fresh, the batter was crispy and light (the gluten free option my wife had was incredible!). Chips unbeatable and expertly seasoned. Lovely sides including mushy peas and coleslaw. Good selection of local beers and cider while you wait. Three cheers for Peter’s Plaice!

Clearly some kind of fish and chips Mecca! Punters will queue for ages for a neatly wrapped piece of the traditional fare. The chaos is managed well and cheerfully by a white dreadlocked gentleman. It looks like in the summer if you're not there by around 7-7.30, you may not get to the top of the queue at closing time at 8:00 or perhaps they simply run out of fish, and they try to indicate a 'last customer' as it were from the back of the queue .... Unusually you can have a drink at the 'bar' as you wait, or really sort of hole at the back. The bottled cider is lovely It did seem insanely popular, and the food was worth waiting for. ( The better part of an hour in my case)

We had fish and small chips and ate in, there is a lovely clean, well laid out restaurant to the rear that they should advertise better. The chips were really well cooked, the fish was cooked to perfection with really crispy batter, the staff were very efficient, couldn't ask for more, well maybe a sea view!
