Chance discovery after walking through the woods from Hinderwell. Really nice Sunday dinner and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and nice venue. They also did a vegetarian option for my wife.

Recommended by my sister and would 100% return! Head chef was on front of house and what a great job he did! The food was lovely, the coffee piping hot and the surroundings were cosy! Made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much. Would definitely recommend and return - thank you and keep up the good work!

I had the most fabulous midweek celebratory evening meal at The Moorhen. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The food & service were phenomenal. Thank you so much to Louise & Sam for opening & cooking for our party, providing the most perfect private dining experience 🥰

An average breakfast. Bacon and hash browns were good, the sausage seemed dried out and tough. Black pudding had a strange twang and egg yolk wasn't runny. Mushrooms were juicy

Found this little gem on a day trip to Runswick bay, Hinderwell and Whitby. We had a flat white coffee which was really full of good coffee taste, a deluxe hot chocolate which was delicious and apot of tea for one which madeat least five cups again was a lovely cuppa. We also had a couple of cakes which were the biggest I've seen in a long time. Staff really friendly and nice we thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Thankyou Moorhen.

Welcoming staff at this cafe with seats inside and out. Good hearty breakfast which was great value for money. Plenty parking and an interesting antiques shop next door.
